Oshkosh 2025

Something for everyone. The three MiG-17s are really getting a workout.

Are the Harriers privately owned? Damn they are sexy

Quick Google search says they are from VMA-223
still active but maybe in their final year
@Deacon211 - do you get an invite to the retirement ceremony?

Step 1. Watch everything Charlie Berens posts on Youtube to understand the local culture.

Step 2. Check when it happens for 2026, then get a hotel room around Feb or March for that time frame. Yes, they do go that fast!

Step 3. Wear Chicago Bears attire at your own peril.

Step 4. Bring a buddy. Great big dutchie dude for example

Will meet you there. The last time that I went, we had a hotel in Green Bay, but that was more to expedite our departure.

I’m sure that there will be word on the grapevine about when the fini flight goes. Be nice to see the old boys
again!

It’ll be a sad day though
nothing says your old like seeing “your” aircraft turned into a seagull bombing target in front of some drive in theater!

If you want it to be a life-changing event, there are only two ways to make that happen: fly in and camp, or RV into Camp Scholler. There is something about being on-site overnight that makes it special. You’re not a visitor. You are a participant—a citizen. That’s it actually. All 20,000+ (totally made up number) people inside or near the fence overnight are part of some great pop-up society centered around aviation and nothing else. Scholler is its own very unique culture-within-a-culture. The RVs are clustered into neighborhoods. Some neighborhoods are EAA and other club chapters. Many are countries with big flags matching the languages and cuisines cooking on the barbies. RV-ing into Oshkosh is not cheap. But I submit that the experiences at camp will be the indelible memories you take back home. The night shows will make their mark, sure. But the camp is what makes you a believer forever.
