Pets of Mudspike

The aviators are going through a head moult.

I can’t do birds… Every attempt by various family members over the years to own one eventually ends in deceased parrots…

I find them easy to care for but they do require a different type of care than other pets. Mainly when it comes to what kinds of fumes and aerosols you tend to use around your living space. Also some fruits/veggies that you wouldn’t expect to be poisonous are, like avocado.

I had a really weird one where I was giving them a bunch of spinach and broccoli leaves, which are generally known as safe, but they got really lethargic so I took them to the avian vet and was told that it was affecting their thyroid. I removed that from their diet and they were back to normal.

Got a very poorly, elderly golden retriever. Merrily enjoying a day off and the dog comes crashing into the room unable to stand and showing all the signs of a stroke to my uneducated brain.
Got him to the vet in 7 minutes nearly blew the hilux engine up (fyi, it does exactly 111mph) for him to get out the car looking slightly wobbly but pretty much normal.

Vet says he has probably got a case of vestibular syndrome, causing vertigo, dizziness and random eye and head movements and should pass in a few days.

Its absolutely horrific. Brought back a lot of old trauma from my first dog and dad passing away within 8 months of each other, currently sat on the floor with pins and needles in my arse too scared to move and set it off again. He seemed near enough fine when i got him home, went outside and got about well enough. Let him have an early dinner and some of his pain meds and then he had another attack of it when i startled him going to check on him. It ■■■■■■■ sucks. Poor old boy has been the absolute best and perfect dog. Deserves a better end than this. Getting old is awful.

So sad. He looks like a sweet boy. Ours are just turning 13 and I hug them so often they are like, “Get the F away from me!”

May this pass quickly and give him many more days of snoozing on his favorite pillow.

Give him a kiss on the nose for me!

Ever since we got her, this has been her place on the sofa:

The bride blames me for having to tell visitors, you can’t sit there, that’s the dog’s spot.

Is that food?

Dozer update

Its been a tough week for the old fella. But he’s definitely showing improvement. Eating again, no being sick.

Still hella wobbly and needing assistance. Poor boy but its getting better thank god
