Pimax Crystal VR headset

It is way, and i mean Way too heavy. If you dont tighten it, it bounces and moves too much. So you tighten the knob at the back and its pressed against your face. My forehead and cheeks were numb. I guess its balanced ok, but no matter.
Today i will try it w iL2 and MSFS.

Day 2. I removed my office chairs headrest. This is a must!!! Il2 is dream. So beautiful. The incredible I.A.R. 80 looks amazing and the visibility from its bubble canopy is very cool. The headset is not too bad here. Loosening up a bit kept my face fresh. A couple of crashes in iL2 so far. No big deal. But, the battery is a PITA souring my experience. Pausing the game and changing the battery still leads to re starting the game. Testing will continueā€¦

just the fact it uses a battery will keep me far away from this headset, I wish users would not even buy them, thinking since alot buy it, it is what users want :frowning:

So Iā€™ve had my Crystal since Septemberā€¦and Iā€™m really loving it,It tracks so much better than my Pimax 8kx did.And The Clarity and vibrant colors and Lighting blow me away.
I was somewhat apprehensive about needing a battery installed constantlyā€¦but it hasnā€™t been an issue for me,
As a matter of factā€¦.I have not had to change the battery since I first installed itā€¦.and itā€™s still on full charge.
The headset is always plugged into my PC so Iā€™m wondering if that is why itā€™s always charging?

Last night i took some time to set up properly.
This video did it for me. Thanks TallyMouse!

There was a lot to do but it was well worth it. I see 70 fps and the clarity is unrivaled to anything ive done before. During an Escort mission in the Jug, the Crystal just disappeared (sort ofā€¦) as i fought my way through the attack. I think i will invest in a strap for comfort and some prescription lenses.
Far as the batteries, i still cant go more than 2 hours before i need to swap batteries. Not as bad as i first thought. I just keep one charging at all times. Maybe my Hub is not plugged right? Anyways, its become like wearing a motorcycle helmet. You get used to it.

Got it a while ago and it is running pretty well :+1:

The problem w the Varjo is that the vertical FoV is half the size of the Crystal. But that only matters if youre Dogfightingā€¦ Oh, Wait!!!
Lenses ordered from RR Rock. The taylor is making me an Apache strap as i write thisā€¦

Smaller VFOV, yes, but not halfā€¦

I went Aero (when they reduced the price so I could afford it) because I didnā€™t think Iā€™d have to worry about some piece of hardware breaking or idiosyncratic software. So far very happy. Not perfect but I dislike fiddling with things like this - or anymore than I have to in the context of PC-based flight simulation

The Aero is a step up from my G2 in all ways except the lack of built in audio.

You might want to hold off on that till the wider FOV lensed are released?

I had a bad night w the Crystal. Colors are washed out. Its so bright. So uch shimmering. Then i get a flashing every 40 seconds or so. My settings in game are so low that the game looks crap. I hate this aspect of VR. Im wasting time that could be spent learning and playing. This is work.

And it finnally all clicked and came together. I fell in love w the Crystal this weekend. The big foam face pad is the one to use. For Sure. It made a huge difference. Then the advice from Tally Mouse all made sense. There is a bit to still sorr out but im 90 percent there. I had a real good time today. The crarity is unreal.

Another advancement in my Crystal adventure. The strap i had the taylor make has lifted it off my face. Had i not been here i would have used the same strap i had used w my HP Reverb. Its now really usable. I would go as far as saying that Pimax would make a lot more sales if it was included.
Batteries are now lasting a couple of hours, so enough for what i do in a night.
Im flying my butt off all the past weekendā€¦

Tonight i had the OMG! PIMAX Experience. It has really impressed me now. The Reverb seems like a toy from the past now. In VR i am seeing so clearly.
This Tally Mouse video is responsible. You must watch this plus his DCS setup video. In this video he explains how to set up Foviated Rendering. I followed this MSFS Video instructions for DCS. DCS looks amazing. It was such a good experience. The best VR fliying i have ever done.

I tried MSFS tonight. The settings made the game pop. I really own MSFS so i can fly lots of different birds but i dont love it like DCS. Tonight i had an amazing experience. I used the settings above the downloaded Flying Ironā€™s Hellcat. I thought, it looked like poo. Of course, i had turned everything down down because VR was really bad. However w the new Settings i turned everything back up. It was really amazing and the Hellcat felt so incredibly real. I must fly the Milviz Corsair tomorrow for comparison. At any rate, a flight around Pearl Harbor was another amazing experience in the Crystal.
Tonight i made a bigger counterweight. This is not a gimmick as i first thought. And i have ordered some wheel weights to experiment with. Given enough weight to the rear, the comfort level gets really acceptable. I didnt have to tighten it too much until i began to throw the plane around. Much better now.

This is yet another very informative video. I am still tuning my Crystal lol. Performance is outstanding. The trick here is to tune to MY SYSTEM and not to someone elseā€™s.

I will do my duty sir! I wanted to do it last night but MSFS is the worlds slowest loading sim.
