We have JDAM’s in the harrier? Is this Beta or the latest stable?

You’ll still be able to drop on targets that come up on the fly, right? I’m used to the F-16 (BMS) and A-10 where you just point the TGP and press the Pickle button. The “careful planning BEFORE starting the flight” has me wondering.

I just spent a couple of hours with the Harrier on Blue Flag under the current beta. No JDAMs were available on the loadout so maybe not quite yet.

They confirmed in the comments that TOO will be there.

JDAM’s aren’t in yet no, not sure when they will be released, but very exciting to me!

I am not sure on these bombs, You are talking about normal dumb bombs or laser targeted. JDAM’s have a internal navigation that they use to get on target. Perhaps there’s a way to disable that system.

The TGP can generate GPS for laser spot based on ownship location and then provide that to the JDAMs. That’s how it works in the Hornet anyway.

I suppose worst case you have to manually enter the GPS provided by the TGP into the JDAM panel.

Looks like @Baltic_Dragon is going to bring us more goodies!

@JediMaster I hope it works like that too in the Harrier though I am not quite sure if it will given how Razbam describes it.

Awesome. Knowing it is a @Baltic_Dragon mission should give me incentive to learn the Harrier.

You might want to start with 20 training missions built by Baltic Dragon

That sounds like a good idea…!

Can confirm. They’re very good and make the Harrier much less intimidating.

I concur! So many things to learn on this bird and the missions really help.

I’m so tempted to just focus on the Harrier for a bit - I’ve been doing a dozen projects and sometimes it is nice to just settle into something for a bit.

That’s what I’m trying to do - starting to get a hang of it but lots to learn still. I’m currently doing my second round of the training missions after just flying for fun for a few weeks and it’s quite good - the info overload is much less when you’re a bit more familiar with everything. A really satisfying bird.

Likewise. Having all the modules (except for the I-16) is both a blessing and a curse. You never get proficient at any of them. Just recently though, I have limited myself to the Harrier and I have been having a blast with it. I managed to launch 4 Mavericks against separate targets in a single pass today… That put a smile on my face. :sunglasses:

One of the things I like about the harrier, is that it’s relatively simple to fight with. Unlike the A-10C, I can usually get airborne and start blasting things with relatively little reference to a manual (or usually @Chuck_Owl’s guides), and do so fairly proficient even after a long lay off. The Hog C not so much, the Viggen? Yeah no.

Same experience here. The Harrier’s weapons switchology is so simple it’s easy to revisit.

It also has a fair bit of overlap with the hornet. Things work the same way, the McAir way.
