Just finished up with the campaign, Ottoman Courier Prologue. Mission 5 seems to have a broken script somewhere, as it went completely silent after takeoff on one run, and played voicework that fit with happenings ten minutes later on another. You may want to look at that one again @Baltic_Dragon …
Fun little campaign though, and I can’t wait to see the rest of it!
I loved the first couple missions in that campaign. Unfortunately when I was playing it an update happened or something that caused my wingmen to dive off the ramp into sea when I took off, which ruined the immersion a bit when I tried the next mission. I hear that’s been fixed, will have to revisit. It had great atmosphere and voice acting!
Of course.
But the trajectory error increases with distance.
I’m just thinking that someone at SAAB said that the trajectory calculations are so unprecise that you need to drop close. And close in a Viggen means you need retarded munition.
Remember the Viggen computer was built in the 60’s
That’s my theory anyway
We all stand on the shoulders of Giants, including Romans who built roads that dictated the width of ox carts which translated to the width of rail gauges and so on and so forth…
I was actually wondering if it’s a hardware issue. Unlike in this day and age of endless microchips and memory, they may have literally only had the space (memory or hardware) for one set of ballistics tables for CCIP. Particularly if CCRP/Auto was going to be the predominate mode of bombing whichate up a large chunk of the physical or ROM space. They may have been limited on either physical space for ROM or space in ROM, so it might have made sense to simply go with the munition most likely to be spec’d for CCIP delivery.
On the subject of AUTO drops, I was playing around with that and the DMT the other night and found it hard to use with the DMT’s (or a DCSism maybe?) tendency to designate the target point on the ground behind the target rather than on the target itself. Were AUTO drops in real life done with the DMT as well?
Didn’t even think about INS vs TV designation. I hit SSS aft twice to enter TV, slewed, TDC depress, then WINC long to set T0. Must have been in INS mode. I’ll have to run it again.
Yeah I defnitely dropped in AUTO/TV and had the dot on the VV, box for slewing. I can’t remember how far out I was when I designated the target (cargo container), but when I rolled in for the drop the designated spot was offset by about 20m.
Does anyone have experience with moving their DCS install from one drive to another?
I put DCS on my C: drive years back when I got my first 1 TB NVMe SSD. But as time goes on it gets larger and my free space is dropping despite moving other programs from C: to other drives.
I think I just want to move it to my 2nd NVMe SSD, a 2TB model that has no Windows stuff just programs and has well over 1TB free still. I’m just concerned about trashing it all.
I’m literally about to become an expert- I have to do it now.
More likely tomorrow but the idea is I simply robocopy everything from a disk to another and change the Shortcut…
@JediMaster
If it’s useful I just did the DCS installation move.
It couldn’t be any easier.
I simply cut /paste the entire Eagle Dynamics folder. From one drive to the other, adjusted the DCS shortcut on my desktop and launched the Skatezilla utility to point the new installation.
Launched the game and all was in place, missions, keybingind, HOTAS binding…
