Skatezilla's DCS Updater Utility GUI

Hi Guys and Girls,

First post here after an absence from flight simming and PC gaming spanning at least 10+ years. So as you can imagine I’ve a lot of questions,

My first one is regards to Skate Zilla’s excellent app.

I’m running a HP Reverb G2 V2 using openXR. In the VR interface settings what should I set them as? Its currently set as

Rendering Driver - Oculus Rift API with the Oculus VR Client tick box highlighted. Is there a better option I’m running a non steam version of DCS beta.

Cheers.

Looks like I have that set in mine as well. Weird. Running the same VR HMD as you, and also on OpenXR.

Does the thing work for you? If it does, it’s ok. If it doesn’t, let’s find out whats wrong

Yeah it works fine other than annoyingly opening the Oculus Quest software up, every time I enter VR. I was just making sure that there isn’t a better option within the app.

With the old version, choose SteamVR, and it will launch DCS without Oculus Home,
If OpenXR is setup correctly, the switcher program should automatically catch the app and launch w/ OpenXR

Cheers Skate, I’ll go give it a try. Great job on the app by the way.

Normally I dont post updates on a whim,

But, I do have some updates.

The Splitting of the App into several threads for the scanning routines have been completed,
The APP has 1 Main thread and 4 Sub Threads now:
-Main Thread for UI and Control Function Routines.
-Scanning Builds Thread
-Scanning Modules Thread
-Unannounced Scanning Function A
-Unannounced Scanning Function B

The Unannounced Scanning Functions will be announced later closer to release.

Right now I’m doing passes on the UI Art to clean and optimize them, finishing other functions that were lower priority, and Bug Squashing code.

Multi-Threading did add some sync bugs, a majority of those have already been fixed, but also disabled some core functions (ie, MT disables the ability to launch Context menu from system tray), currently working with MS as it seems to be a API bug, but in the mean time, the system tray icon is now limited to a double click to restore app to center screen if it opens off screen, which the function of moving to center is also part of the start up check so really shouldn’t happen anymore. the entire system tray menu is essentially disabled.

On top of all that I’m also optimizing the order of routines, as most of them now load up prior to displaying the form, and a few more intensive routines may get moved to a 5th Thread.

Hey Skate, I think something might have happened with the Modelviewer launcher on the app after the last DCS update or hotfix. It gives an “unhandled exception” error and says that a value “cannot be null.”

Hey @SkateZilla How is version 2 progressing?

With the whole OpenXR thing I see DCS command line interface again, which I haven’t used in a long time. I am hoping an OpenXR or VR platform selection will be in the new tool.

I understand if you have other things to do than working on a free tool but just wanted to let you know that I, and I’m sure many others, are looking forward to an updated version.

Sorry I Posted and Update on my FB Page and forgot to post it here, as it’s been a pretty busy last few weeks behind the scenes.

Good Day Everyone,
I Hope everyone is having a Safe new year.

The App has been going through internal testing for a few weeks now, so far it’s going smoothly, no major issues, Any bugs found are logged and processed, along with User Feedback.
So far the main focus is on the major features, and thread syncing.
There’s still odd behaviors that need to be ironed out when it comes to threading.

That being said this week was Phase I of the Cleanup process:
-Cleaning out rem’d code that was left for testing functions and just in case I needed to revert to a previous code base for some functions,
-Cleaning out unused controls,
-Cleaning Out unused or replaced UI Art.

It was also decided late in development to replace a majority of the controls due to how they reacted to being in a multi-threaded function.

Work will continue on cleaning up the thread management functions as well as adding / cleaning up existing functions.
There’s still a few features that are only integrated as a basic level and need to be expanded to their full potential.
Once I am closer to a release I will put out more visual content.

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

It’s a forum, not a blog!

Hello all, I am a newbie to DCS and I finally arrived to Mudspike and found Skatezilla’s DCS Updater Utility GUI. It is very pleasing to arrive at an area were problems are worked on and solved. I have read all of the 155 post relating to the Updater Utility. Great support.
My question is where can a newbie download this fine Utility.
A Newbie in need.
