Most Aussie troops deployed to Vietnam on QANTAS 707ā€™s, this is a song that resonates with a lot of our vets. The Peter, Paul and Mary version is probably better known. But Iā€™m a bit of a John denver fan and he wrote the song.

This is from 1962 so on the early side, but from what I remember that was the year my grandfather went over the first time as an ā€œadvisor.ā€

Iā€™m gonna be dropping a good bit more Otis in this thread. If he and Sam Cooke hadnā€™t died when they did, one can only imagine what music through the rest of the 60s and 70s wouldā€™ve looked like.
