Most Aussie troops deployed to Vietnam on QANTAS 707’s, this is a song that resonates with a lot of our vets. The Peter, Paul and Mary version is probably better known. But I’m a bit of a John denver fan and he wrote the song.

This is from 1962 so on the early side, but from what I remember that was the year my grandfather went over the first time as an ā€œadvisor.ā€

I’m gonna be dropping a good bit more Otis in this thread. If he and Sam Cooke hadn’t died when they did, one can only imagine what music through the rest of the 60s and 70s would’ve looked like.
