Although it’s obvious that the album’s audio track has been merged with this live video, I thought that the studio version is the one that we are most familiar with. It should be said that Jeff Baxter played that amazing guitar solo on the album, but here Denny Dias’ version is a bit different. Correction, Baxter did play guitar on the album, but Dias played and electric sitar on Do It Again. Steely Dan used a rotating group of top shelf studio musicians, Larry Carlton (The Royal Scam and Aja), being a prime example. Not only did they hire him for a few albums, but famously bought a first class ticket for his Fender tweed Deluxe 5E3 amp, they liked his tone so much.
