It is good to have a hobby.
And Obi is the right age to start learning this stuff. I was about his age when my dad got me started on small engine repair and maintenance. ![]()

Absolutely. Plus there is something extremely cathartic about pulling heads off aircooled shite. He is loving it
Might I suggest you get your carpentry on and build some to your own taste and wishes?
I have mulled this over. It would be a great deal less expensive. Its the time that gets me
That ain’t a bad price for a head gasket! Nice!
…and it’s just getting cold enough for him to smash his knuckles on the engine block in all those nice places the guys in the drawing office created for said purpose.
Great to see you doing this stuff, builds confidence about taking things apart. You can mend, rather than spend. ![]()
The Boy and I peeled ourselves away from Battlefield 6 and the Beer fridge for a few hours to go over to Malvern showground for a few hours.
Bought him a humvee model, a nice one to be fair.
Some stencils and white spray paint and some super cheap lights for the mule… I haven’t a clue what they are from, something british and crap most likely… but they can definitely be retrofitted to the little mule. I like em. They will be a bit overkill, but i reckon they should work great as a cheap, lighting system.
Gotta figure out a brake light as well. But i have a plan involving a marker light from a lorry painted green…
I am going to put a massive airhorn on it as well. Because you cant take life too seriously
Had a right little result. I have wanted an American S250 shelter for my humvee trailer for a while, they are like rocking horse ■■■■ over here. You can get the british spec “comms box” which is similar but needs modification to fit in a humvee trailer (or a humvee)
Now i have been trying to turn the original and hugely cool original canvas topped trailer into a sort of camper, with limited success. Its like a damn blast furnace in there as @schurem and his family will attest.and just not hugely practical. It looks great though.
So my mate has a vietnam Gama-goat, a wonderful vehicle. With the S250 shelter on it. Now, i confess that my funding is extremely low at the moment. But this kind of felt like a once in a lifetime deal, so ive swapped a load of humvee parts and can just make the deal work. Its really tight though. So I’m picking it up tomorrow
I fitted the frame and canopy to the newest trailer yesterday and that will be going up for sale to cover the shortfall in the meantime. Meaning that i can turn the insulated S250G into a small, but hopefully pretty useful camping trailer for next year. I’ll post some better pics once its in my hands tomorrow
Its gonna need spraying obviously but should be easy enough
that defiantly has possibility of being turned into a nice little living place, couple of hammocks, and a small cooking setup ![]()
They are definitely fixable, its just lego but bigger
Jesus, your kids can truly boast in school… Coolest dad ever. ![]()
NoNameKid: ”My dad just bought the latest Tesla”
Obi: ”That’s cute!”
Yeah, I’ve had 2 teachers in the last year ask me what a “humvee” is.
I showed them the video of him driving it. Its as much his as mine
Went out for a nice road run today with my mate and his M35 Reo whistler. Which is an absolute beast.
Went to a nice Biker cafe in cirencester. Saw some cool 2 wheeled weapons on display…i love bimota
A nice day out stretching the vehicles legs a bit. They don’t do well sitting around
That looks like a nice place. I love how you can find these little museums in England. So much love and passion to keep the history alive.
Had a nice father son moment today. We fitted an alternator kit to the mule together.
Though, if I’m honest i was more of a supervisor this time. He is really coming along with his tool work. Only bit i really did myself was an oil return pipe that needed hulk hogan to attach and i also ■■■■■■ the cap on the starter solenoid being heavy handed (but i didnt tell him, ive gorilla glued it and will order another, i told him the crack was my knuckle
)
Very proud dad today.
a truly wonderful day
