VR News: HP Reverb - Second Gen headsets are on the way

So I know the O+ controllers pair with the Bluetooth in the O+ headset.

And the Reverb controllers pair with the Bluetooth in the Reverb headset.

Is there a way to pair the O+ controllers to the Reverb headset?

The bluetooth controller is build into the O+, like the Reverb one is as well I think. If that headset isn’t on then it might struggle.

With just the Reverb on, have you tried pressing/holding the bluetooth synch button inside the O+ controllers battery cover? Weirder things have happened.

I will try that!

The movie room in The Cliff House looks fantastic with the Reverb. I can actually see myself watching stuff here. Wonder if there is a way to get Netflix up there

Can’t you just use a desktop widget in your WMR house? Netflix in a browser and fullscreen there seems to work ok, even for the classics

I just thought of that too!

So standing on the 20 line (I assume that is where the 20/20 comes from) I can read 75% of line 11
the first three letters were hard to discern, but the rest of the line was easy. Uploading the full res image:

Keep in mind
that is taken with my iPhone from a less than ideal position. That chart is actually a bit more clear in the headset. I hate to keep repeating that
but it’s just a fact that the “through the lens” pics are nifty, but not as good as being there. Stands to reason of course.

It’s still interesting though.

I think (albeit pretty rough and unscientific) composite of this O+ on left, Reverb on right of the same chart gives a pretty ok idea of the extra clarity - agree from what you’ve seen?

Yes
that is a fair image comparison. The O+ has that slight smeary look, but with pretty much zero SDE
whereas the Reverb is sharper, clearer, with just a hint of SDE.

The FOV test I won’t post a picture of since it really won’t work with the iPhone being so far out of the lens but what I appear to be seeing is 90 degrees left and right. I can just barely see the default red bar at the 90L and R points. Vertical seems to be around -48 to +48
but the top of my glasses sort of truncates the up to around +43. I’d be curious what I’d see wearing my contact lenses.

Love the new Steam Workshop integration into VTOL VR
it makes finding and playing new missions and campaigns much easier!

The visuals are awesome of course

I love that out of all the sims out there, VTOL might actually be the closest we get to the F-35 cockpit in real life.

It is really, really cool configuring all those. Fun stuff.

I had more fun playing with those displays in the f45 than flying some missions!

Beach have you tried the night extraction mission on the workshop. Fly low fly fast and don’t be seen. It’s epic.

Yes
I think I have. Is that the one with the big battle going on in the city on the rooftops?

It can
if you want it to
or not.

On a sailboat the halyards are the ropes used to raise the mainsail and jib. The one end hooks into the head of the sail. From that end the halyard runs up to the top of the mast, though a pulley and back to the deck, where it normally runs through a clamp. The free end (actually called the “bitter end”) can be wrapped around a winch to assist in raising the sail.

The main halyard is normally white or grey. A lot of times, the jib halyard is blue.

So
yep, that’s all I know about halyards. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi all,

I have just created my account here to tell you that after following the thread about the O+, I pulled the trigger and bought it (from the US as the damn thing does not sell in Europe - you can imagine the hassle and additional cost but that is another story ).

Well
now I am following this thread with increasing interest :sunglasses: and though I am generally happy with my O+, this extra visual clarity, less weight and perhaps more comfort wearing the HMD makes me think about getting a new toy
(most likely from the US again :grimacing: - same story - but now I know what to expect).

Keep the feedback coming please! :+1:

Thanks,
Milan
