Because of today’s announcement about Germany coming to DCS:
After having heard the German version for years before I heard the English version the English version has always just sounded wrong to me.
Wheels
This was actually the first time I ever listened to the English version & I agree - sounds wrong. The ‘original’ was a huge hit here in 1983/84, IIRC it reached #1.
I remember singing along to it with everyone else without understanding a word at discos… and getting all the words wrong ![]()
I added the English version because:
A. It is the first time for me, maybe others as well.
B. There isn’t a 1:1 match between the subtitles of the German version and this one.
Since we’re celebrating German artists, here’s an awesome German Dancehall band called SEEED, with my favorite German singer, Peter Fox, performing my favorite song from them, called Augenbling.
OMFG just found out Girl Talk and I feel like it’s … listening this album it’s like listening to 70s, 80s and 90s classics while being high on acid. But the acid has ADHD.
Not for everyone but holy heck it’s intense.
I think it’s because of everything going on in the world right now, as well as knowing very well the story behind the song, but “Jumper” had me absolutely bawling as I was watching this.
Been listening to this live version of Leave This Thing Alone a lot lately. They really have it put together in this set.
I’m also pumped that Unheilig (German language band) is having a comeback tour in Germany/Austria. They stopped performing in 2010, but they’re re-starting at the end of this year.
Heard both of these in recent days and they really took me back.
Had not seen this live version, but I’ve heard the album version 1000x.
Today is the 30th anniversary of the original Rex Manning Day:
(this may be an obscure senior millennial reference)
Yeah man, I dig his singing, but I really dig his writing. It’s witty, the rhythms and things work and its heartfelt. Our ages’ Dylan mayhaps?
