I love the song. Straight to the point, no-nonsense, technically impeccable.
Second listen:
There’s fantastic syncopated drumming starting at 0:57 but something feels off about the transition at 1:05
Is it a drum machine glitch or something you worked for? Becasue for me that honestly feel like a mis-step. I didn’t notice the same pattern happening again.
I appreciate that it ends with no frills- just like it starts. I wonder how it would feel it to end with the last riff repeating in decrescendo, fading out.
I mean taking the same riff starting at 2:32 and repeating it (decrescendo-fade out) without the drums (as from 2:30)
The mixing works very well- I feel a certain lack of bass BUT that’s highly likely due to the crappy headphones I have at work, I need to listen to it again at home with a more serious setup.
A definite improvement from the last track of yours I heard here.
I fired up some Springsteen on the way home last night. The song Thunder Road came on..
It was in the famous “Born to Run” album. That came out in 1975. Springsteen dodged the draft but I am sure he lost a lot of friends to the war. These lyrics give me goose bumps every time…
“There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out Chevrolets
They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
When you get to the porch they’re gone on the wind”
KILLER cover of The Verve Pipe’s Bitter Sweet Symphony by UMC featuring Matthias Schneck. All the nuance and passion of the original lyrics, but with a more rocking back beat. UMC switches between beautifully playing and absolutely shredding the guitar and drums. So good! Must be heard to appreciate.
I am not massively fussed with i Prevail, but Whitechapel is officially up there with my 4 favourite bands at the moment. Support by sylosis as well, so we have a fair bit to look forward to musically this year. Download and bloodstock of course.
I’ve gone hard on the deathcore lately. I ■■■■■■■ love Whitechapel
That name rang a bell for me. I think I knew it either from when I looked up 15th century history (the tribe migrated back then IIRC from what is now Sudan) or because of a certain US president’s heritage.
Either way: fascinating.
Edit: as for the music: that rhythm is mesmerizing.
