The MG42 is a nice piece of hardware.
I have shot the real thing (well, technically a modernized MG3 but that is almost identical) and I can tell you that the way you are holding it, actually pulling the trigger would be a VERY bad idea.
It can be shot standing, but that is done from the hip. And it is… well… let’s say “not very precise” when shot that way.

To be honest i was more focused on holding the bloody heavy thing up than trying to aim it lol.
I have been like an excited kid all day.
I even managed to hold an M16A2 with a 203 grenade launcher on it. He let me load and cock it as well. Badass.
My kids have been following me round looking mortified all day. So much fun.
Wifey told me if i say DCS to anyone else shes going back to the car

We were allowed only to shoot from prone and bipod deployed.
We had something like a few 100 rds. belts to shoot.

I shot it prone with bipod, from the tripod (which is awesome), from a M113 tank, and from the simple mount on the roll bar of a Mercedes ‘Wolf’ GL.
Carrying it around sucks, but shooting it is awesome.
