Glad you made it home. The last “go-home” day we had got pushed back a day, really sucks when that happens.

Brilliant work!
I need the bench to build gate doors on. They’ll be rough, I’m very far from a master craftsman. They’ll be good sturdy doors tho.
Man…to create things out of remnants and pieces of other things…such a talent. I struggle to hang a picture on my wall…how others can be masters at building things is amazing to me.
Well, after 11 years of beating my John Deere lawn tractor to death…hauling ridiculous loads with it…and using it sometimes as a bush-hog instead of mower, I finally had to order a new lawn mower. I had done some repairs to the John Deere that let me limp another couple years out of it, but last fall it got to the point where the hydrostatic transmission was barely able to move it (I was having to mow in reverse sometimes)…and the cost to replace all of the parts (if you can even find them) plus the labor made it an equation not worth pursuing. I put the JD on CraigsList for free and someone picked it up a few hours later…no doubt someone who knows how to rebuild stuff.
I decided to go with a Husqvarna…for no other reason than the price point and reviews seemed to make it a possible good choice. We’ll see…I’m pretty rough on a mower with the areas I tackle. I also got a mulcher kit (basically just recirculates the clippings) and a bagger is sitting on my living room floor. I’m going to try mulch mowing this year and see how that goes. The bagger is absolutely necessary for the fall leaves though…
Cant go wrong with husky. I can rebuild their chainsaw engines with my eyes closed. I’m nor sure what engine is in the lawn tractor size stuff but they never seem to cause a problem. Looks cool as well
Can you teach me?
@BeachAV8R nice bit of kit you got there mate.
Easy. Video call.
Nice. This needs a Mudspike review/AAR. ![]()
I mulch mow our place as I would end up with more grass cuttings than I could deal with. Not leaving it too long between cuts helps with the volume of mulch that sits on the lawn afterwards.
Needed to keep the boat out of the weather, so we spent the day building a Lean-To off my existing shed. They can’t tax it again ![]()
I’ll get the tin on the roof, this week.
Man…I need to do something similar to shelter my canoe and kayaks…
I spent most of today clearing brush and taking down 1 - 2” trees clearing out the property. Had a nice bonfire going for it… The four acres is slowly getting cleared off all the undergrowth…year by year. I could probably rent a skid steer and do it in one afternoon…but what is the fun in that…?
Busy day over my house with fairford arrivals from the US
Hate 13 and a U2S dragon lady just buzzed me
Gonna shoot over there before work and see if I can catch a glimpse of the galaxy before it arrives
I got some relatively poor photos of Hate 11 and 12 but the camera won’t connect to my new phone for whatever reason
Cyclone Dovi making landfall today. So far we’ve just suffered mild casualties, a rubbish bin full of nappies fell over in the wind.
Things may get interesting yet, though - they will likely close the Harbour Bridge and some houses in rural areas have been evacuated, unsure if that’s because of flooding or high winds.
Well we started easy last Saturday, I drove to pick her up from work and then drove to a quiet village on the way home and she took over, now considering that she hasn’t driven in nearly two years she didn’t do too badly
BUT I have discovered that I am a terrible passenger… the wife doesn’t drive so I have been doing all the driving for the past28+ years and now seem to have developed some control issues, so when the daughter was driving I was ![]()

Learning to sit next to a beginning driver without causing them to panic is at least as hard as learning to drive!
Good on you for giving her the opportunity and trying to be better!
I had a similar experience when I had just gotten my driver’s license and my mom was constantly gasping while I was driving. Very irritating but now almost ten years later I am sure I would act the same way when sitting next to a learning driver…
Good luck!
it’s Swedish, just like the Viggen is what I believe you were trying to say…?
I remember my Dad trying to teach me to drive. It just didn’t work and caused a lot of tension between us. He soon realized that a driving instructor was probably the best way to go. I was not the greatest student driver though. I failed the test twice. ![]()
I should add that the driving test in the UK (and I am guessing in Europe as a whole), is a different ball game from the test in the US, which is ridiculously easy.
You are right about the friction that it could cause, I am just there so she can drive the car … I am leaving the teaching to a professional… who has far more patience than I ![]()
Don’t they have Kawasaki motors though? That’s not a bad thing. Kubota does it and they are so smooth.
The Viggen has got a Pratt&Whitney… ![]()
