Awesome, congratulations and Happy St Patrick’s Day!

I’m not sure of the advertising value, but your son’s boat is even on the national news on the other side of the pond, here in The Netherlands.

@schurem Thanks for sharing mate.

I now have another reason for visiting Paris. The French sure can build pretty aircraft can’t they.

Wow. And I was happy for just staring at a Chinook this afternoon. You really live in one of the best plane spotting towns on the planet.

Isn’t that the aircraft they named after my Mother-in-Law? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

A bit foggy this morning.

Today was RAT Drop day (actually ADG in Challenger speak)… I forgot how loud these things are. :crazy_face:

More detail please! :grinning: Was it intentional (required by MX on an interval?), or (I guess also intentional:) required due to in-flight failure?

I’ve never flown anything with a RAT, so I find them fascinating. I just finished explaining to my wife and kids that the big airplanes have these backups (“just like our APU, except a whole engine and propellor!”) that pop out in case of dual engine failure, to keep it flying to the nearest airport. :rofl: Sure enough, there’s plenty of photos on google of airliners flying with them deployed, so it must be true.

It was an intentional deployment for its 24 month check. There are a number of checks that have to be done to make sure that it is performing as it should.

I flew the airplane while the other pilot and our MX Supervisor worked through the following checklist…

Man that is tiny considering the V and A it is generating! Aluminium is a great heatsink but I’m betting it gets ‘a little bit hot’ even with a nice cool slipstream?

I’m also guessing that once it is deployed, it it staying down until the ground crew put it back in it’s place?

Yesterday we went out on my brother’s boat with some mutual old friends, now that it’s finally warmed up enough. Chased some rain clouds away.

Then did a little bit of GA flying today in preparation for a family weekend getaway tomorrow. My wife’s first time in a funny-looking Rutan-style bird.
