You sure that is a proper festival? Doesn’t look like nearly enough mud.

Have fun and I would be saving the GPS co-ords for the tent otherwise I would never find it sober let alone after a Stella or three :stuck_out_tongue:

Still doesn’t look quite boggy enough … but there is more rain and some gusty wind forecast for today @Victork2 hope that tent is lashed down :grinning:

Took a 4 day trip to Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The main purpose of the trip was to see Pro Motocross at Highpoint Raceway in sw Pennsylvania, but went and saw some attractions along the way. There was a lot of driving and sightseeing packed into so short a time.

First up was Hocking Hill State Park in Ohio. Anybody who likes hiking and is passing through (maybe to see the USAF Museum in Dayton or something), give it a look.

After Ohio, I drove to West Virginia.

Parkersburg

Coopers Rock

Motocross at Highpoint, Penns.

Then some short track dirt oval racin’, just outside of Pittsburgh.

Hocking Hills is a really beautiful place. I went there a number of times when I lived in Zanesville, Ohio.

Looks like you had a great trip!

British Museum London.
A temporary exhibition of Roman army equipment. Much from Kalkreise in Germany. ThE latter iitems are remains from the army of Varus who was defeated by the Germans with the loss of four legions. The British exhibits come from all over the UK. Most of the exhibits were preserved in bogs.

The legionary shield is totally authentic and the only intact one in the world. Buried in the destruction of Dura-Europa in Syria. It dried out in the sand preserving it, including the decoration. It has curved badly due to being baked in the sand. Originally it woukd have been only slightly curved.

The armour in the first picture is the most intact lorica segmentum in the world. Dug up at Kalkreise. I went to the exhibition primarily to see this. I did not know there would also be ‘marching stakes’, tent pegs, and leather tent sheets. The latter two were left in a store when Hadrians wall was abandoned.

Wow, what an exhibit! Awesome to see that all together.

I had no idea dice towers went that far back. I thought it was just a modern fad around tabletop role playing games.

That’s a stunning collection. Thanks for sharing your photos Scoop.

Great photos. Ohio is definitely now on the list if I ever get back to the US.

Thanks for sharing. As a kid I would spend hours at the museum where I grew up. As an adult, I get to as many as I can. Lucky enough to have visited all the Smithsonian annexes, British Museum, Tower of London, Vasa Museum plus a few more.

Speaking of lucky…

SWMBO gave me a puppy free afternoon yesterday so I took the opportunity to stretch my legs, have some time to myself , go for a ‘bit’ of a walk to get some exercise and remind myself how lucky I am to have views like this all within a 3km radius of our house.

I took the wrong lens for landscapes (70-300) and the lighting wasn’t the best, but it gives you an idea:

That looks like it would be fun to explore in a bush plane.
