At Flo’s getting lunch.
Edit:
I have been going to Flo’s for over twenty five years and I just noticed when I looked at the picture a moment ago that those four ceiling lights are not in line.

Hazy day at Chino airport.
Snow on the mountains makes for a scenic sight.
OV-10 in need of some TLC.

Ooof. Sorry to hear. God bless the instructor/check airman for not playing cooperate and graduate games. Not everyone always seems to hold paying clients to the standards they should.
We sent a new hire in to the competition for initial recently (new to the type, lots of 121 but first jet), and he had a very similar story- his partner (not from my company) failed multiple V1 cuts on multiple days, resulting in redscreen. Same result, they dropped him and sent him back to the start of the next initial class, with a restriction in place for SIC only.
He was pretty shocked, and I was pretty shocked to hear it, but was glad at the outcome.
LOVE that museum!
Getting ready to call it a day and head home but before I go here are a couple of the Douglas Skyrocket

Scott Crossfield’s book “Always Another Dawn” was an amazing look at his flights in that plane.
I spent the weekend in Nevada with some friends. On the way home I thought I would stop and get some historic pictures for those of you who are into “Masters of the Air”.
This is Wendover Field, in Wendover Utah. Literal feet from the Nevada state line. It used to be called “Wendover Army Air Base” and was used to train B-29 crews, including a couple you might know- Enola Gay & Bock’s car.
This is the Enola Gay hangar, which is being fully restored.
This is the fully restored officers club, which is gorgeous inside!
The real flight ops building, which is now the FBO
The tower is still standing. AND you can climb up and look into the work area.
Here are some of the barracks. Sadly, not in good shape.
They also filmed ConAir on the field and left the C-123 there, which you can go in. But it’s hollowed out. Nothing there but a driver seat and a steering wheel.
They also filmed parts of Independence Day there. The scene where the aliens attack the “secret air base” is there. The Bonneville salt flats right next to the airport is where they filmed the scene where will smith is dragging the alien in his parachute. They also filmed Pirates of The Caribbean there, where Jack Sparrow is pulling the black pearl across the sand. Lots of history.
It saddens me that people are so unenthralled with flight that most people don’t even open their window shades anymore on airplanes. I have an irrational anger at that…
Puncture and written off tyre caused by a discarded disposable vape pen. Which had penetrated and was still in the Audi tyre
That is a new one on me, i wondered what the hell was rattling inside the thing
Wow. I would have bet that such a thing couldn’t penetrate a tyre.
Me either!
in the morning heading to work i have seen several of these on the roads… the small led lights are easy to spot on the sides of the road
It’s electronic waste of the worst kind. These are disposable products with a friggin’ lithium-ion cell inside and people are just tossing them out on the streets where they get crushed and end up a smoldering mess or apparently puncture car tyres. To be fair the cells tend to be depleted when they get thrown away but crushing them can still be dangerous.
Yeah… and then people get emotional when authorities come with a new regulation addressing this issue.
I guess the latter would not exist without the former.
Who in their right mind buys electronic commodities with lifetimes measured in hours? Humanity is doomed…
A bit off topic, but unfortunately our Govt decided to ban the importation and sale of e-cig liquids containing nicotine about three years ago. Most people vaping at the time were adults who were already smokers and using non-disposable e-cigs.
This lead to an explosion of the black market in disposable vapes that became very popular with teens (particularly high school age) very quickly.
So now we have an ‘epidemic’ of teens vaping and what is the .gov doing about it? Doubling down, increasing penalties and vowing to ‘stamp out the scourge of vaping’.
Like that has worked with every other illicit drug since… forever!
Saw something new when I was getting gas earlier today. In 10.5 years and over 88,000 miles I had never seen those orange lights telling me I am low on gas.
Even though I will likely not see them again for quite some time it was nice to see they still worked as designed.
