At first I was like “a random rock in the woods doesn’t seem like good fieldcraft” and then I zoomed in

Yeah maybe 1.5km. It was passing to the north from west to east. I didn’t notice it at first as I was riding north to south initially. No debris visible at any point but there is a lot of trees in the way.

I went to an afternoon Detroit Tigers game today.

It was German heritage day at the ballpark and if you got a special package (ticket package, that is), you got a German themed Tigers hat, which was pretty cool.

The Tigers have done poorly for most of the year, but in the last 30 games or so have turned it around and they are fighting to get the wildcard playoff spot. The park was pretty excited and the Tigers managed to win.

I laughed WAY too hard at that! Funniest thing I’ve read in a while.

Got walloped by Hurricane Helene… been without power all day. Hundreds of trees are down in my town… Hundreds of powerlines down. 100% of the town is without power. I spent my day shuttling the generator from my ex-wife’s house to the house that I own but don’t live in…(long story) in order to pump out a flooding basement. I imagine it will be a few days before power is restored. There is so much damage. We were unlucky and caught the remnants of the eastern edge of the eye… And the storm was trucking north at 30-35 miles an hour so I guess that velocity is kind of additive to the surface winds. There had been so much rain before the storm…so many trees toppled over. I guess there is catastrophic flooding going on in the western Carolina mountains.
