I’m back where I grew up in Italy. Spending a good time with my mother and brothers.

It looks so exquisitely Italian, doesn’t it?

A bit gray, not many people in this small town… it’s so strange it can mean so much to me.

That looks beautiful mate

Thanks! The Park in the first picture is a bit sad. No kids, no sun… but in summer is joyous, bustling with kids playing noisily all over the place.

The rest is really just the charm of old architecture and poor city-planning…

Exquisitely, stereotipically Italian.

Christmas Day distillery tour :joy:

Small operation that mixes traditional sake brewing technique into their whiskey making process. Complementary tasting of some cask strength straight out of the still, 1.5yr, and 3yr.

Firing up the oyster pit. A bushel of Lowcountry babies on ice while the burlap bags soak for steaming.

My mom said, “That looks like something savages would eat.”

And I’m back home… I mean Germany.

Pics from the first part of the trip.

Took me from 14: 30 till 23:30

But it’s okay.

That’s why we differentiate in German:

Zu Hause != Heimat

Italy always has a special vibe for me. Must be nice to have grown up there…

The XC90 was put through its paces this holiday

“Which toys do we bring?” “Yes.”

I continue to be impressed with the old tractor. We do 90% of our annual city driving with the Leaf but when there’s adventures to be done or stuff to be hauled, I’m always pleased to have the Volvo in the yard.

I also took 11 people (adults and kids) down & back up a steep 4-wheel track to a swimming hole :joy: …on private property and very slowly and safely, of course.

No car is too small for toys!

Is that a car with a kayak on top or a kayak with a car slung beneath it..?

Haha. That’s determination.

That CRX brings back a lot of memories, most of them positive. I remember driving down US 1 in south Miami and seeing it for the first time on a Honda lot. That would have to had been 1983, because later that year we moved to ATL. We stopped in to take a look and wife 1.0 brought it home. The styling was pretty unconventional at the time, especially eschewing a second row, which my Accord had, and the greenhouse rear quarter and hatch windows. It was definitely a cool ride in the early 80s.

The CRX turned out to be typical Honda of the era, tight and reliable, as long as you didn’t mind replacing the water pump every 60k miles or so. The Accord’s water pump was on a similar schedule. Maybe something in the water :dotted_line_face:
