18th century warfare on film

I’ve been doing some reading recently on the Seven Year’s War and the rise of Prussia so I’ve been trying to find some new films that depict 18th century warfare. The ones I’ve seen already and which I consider to be outstanding examples are Barry Lyndon and Last of the Mohicans. Which others might be good recommendations?

Caveat: Please don’t mention “The Patriot” with Mel Gibson. That was crap!

“Barry Lyndon”
? It might not be *just * about that… but it’s a fantastic movie.

That and “The Duellists”.
They are not easy popcorn movies though, but proper historical costume movies.

EDIT : You already mentioned “Barry Lyndon”. Got to get my eyes checked. Apoogies.

“The Duellists” is a great film and I have it on DVD but I didn’t mention it because it’s early 19th century Napoleonic era.

Apparently this is very very good despite being in black and white. And old.

Thank you. I’ll check it out.

My immediate thought was actual battlefield footage which would have been impossible without a time machine!
Of course, while documentaries cover these things they generally only show paintings, diagrams, or the saddest local reenactors ever pretending.

Would Master and Commander count?

Like “The Duellists” it’s also early 19th century Napoleonic Era. Awesome film though which I also have on DVD!

There are surprisingly few Revolutionary War or Seven Years’ War dramas. Napoleon, Civil War, after that, plenty.

Was there a “You Are There” for Crispus Attucks and the Boston Massacre? I have a vague memory of it. I remember the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad one pretty well, though.
