2080 super

Ha you where mistaken on your time frame  ah hindsight
Does DCS use Ray tracing and @Gunnyhighway how are you finding the card a few months down the road

I don’t think DCS uses ray tracing.

The card more than handles it self. I run pretty much max settings in DCS and I stay locked at 60fps in 4k. In VR, it keeps the same settings and runs at 40fps (ASW lock on Rift S). One caveat is I use the VR shaders mod which helps a bit. Without the mod, the game can dip below 40 when on the super carrier, but other than that its rock solid. It also runs very cool. I don’t think its ever been over 60c. My particular card is the ROG strix gaming with a triple fan setup.

Obviously I’ll probably get gig envy when the 3080 drops, but the 2080 super is insanely good. I should throw in a qualifier that the rest of my system is pretty high end (9700k @ 5ghz, 32gb ram, ssd, etc), but to get this kind of performance out of DCS is impressive.

Something else to consider is the massive effect settings have. I really was getting good performance out of the 1070, albeit at 1080p and lower VR settings.

EDIT:

I forgot to mention also that if you have a higher end VR set, it may start to struggle. The Rift S seems to be a great match for it though.

With all that being said, I don’t think I would recommend the Ti over the 2080 S. It just couldn’t possibly get much better to warrant the massive price jump, at least with my usage.

Even the 1080 cards are still good. Vram is often the limitation I find.

I agree. I have a 1080ti with 11Gb vram and a lot of the stuff i run maxes the vram out in 4K (i think VR sometimes too).

I have no idea how some people get by with only 8Gb in 4K. I’d prefer something like 16Gb.
