It’s a bit surreal to think that an 18 year old soldier who took part in D-Day for the Normandy beach invasions would now be 99 years old.
Sobering to think how many of them never saw the next day, let alone making it into their 90’s.
My dad died on june 6th 2002. Between d-day and his demise, its a potent day for me and everybody
Sorry to hear that Ace. You lost him way too early.
I was 16 mate. Mum had already left, it sucked. completely alone. Lost and scared.
But i sorted my life, stood on my own and owned it.
You did a fantastic job my friend…I love seeing your pics in The “Where are You” thread…love seeing the smiles on your Beautiful Children’s Happy Faces…That’s a Huge Credit to You and Your Wife.God Bless
Your Dad would have been very proud of the man you are today… no doubt about it.
Thats very kind of you both. Thank you very much indeed
All I can do is echo what everyone else has said mate. It is a testament to your strength of character and innate ‘goodness’ that you have become the man you are.
Definitely someone I want to share a beer with.

Twenty years later, the man who said go.
I can only imagine what that did to him from a mental health perspective. Such a great weight to carry.
