Looks like it might be fun for VR (if it reaches PC)
Don’t think it will. It looks exactly like War Thunder does in VR. Since this one is also from the hand of Gaijin, I’m really worried about an un-fun business model Let’s see how it pans out
I have no idea what War Thunder looks like on PC or VR nowadays. I haven’t played it in a long time due to, as you mentioned, a very unfun business model via grinding, bewildering skill progression and complex microtransactions.
Absolutely…this is what kills WT for me.
Its such a ridiculously fun game at first. Tanks, planes and boats. But after tier 1 is completed its just the worst thing to play. Its such a shame. The problem is its popular and the predatory systems they employ work…so they arent going to stop
Wow, I’d like to have the ability to do a walk-about of WW2 aircraft and caress them as in the video
Just announced that Aces will be available for PC via Steam!
Wow! Looks fun, simply based on the trailer. It also looks like it will support our HOTAS setups, which is definitely a nice touch.
Ok…Not much to go on, but it’s early days still. Will be watching.
The worst thing aboiut this and the PS5 is it (PS5) will only use the thrustmaster JS/THROTTLE combo (t-flight hotus) NOT off the shelf flight sim gear available for PC . What is weird is the PS4 can use flight sim gear that is used on a PC. Maybe sony will get off their high horse and decide that the ps5 can use other equipment then the toy like stuff it allows
Looks like fun. WWI dogfighting is perfect in VR.
Doesn’t seem to model gyroscopic effects from the rotating engine. I wonder how the flightmodel holds up…?
Probably a simplified flight model …but still looks fun
”So this is more like a simulator than a game”
- Lowers flaps instead of raising the undercarriage…
I guess we’ll just have to take his word for it…
It looks like a fun game to me. If you can just gun the throttle in a Spitfire and it just takes off straight ahead, with no input, it’s not for me.
And if this is how they model a 109, they may want to try harder.
But I’m probably not the target audience. It may bring other gamers into the fold, so that’s a plus…
Sorry if I come off as a grudgy curmudgeon! My morning coffee hasn’t fully kicked in yet.
If it’s using motion controls I’m fine with auto-rudder… of course if I’m at my HOTAS I’d prefer the option to turn that off.
I think Dawn of Jets did it well (of course they’re jets so p-factor isn’t a thing) so far as the motion controls interaction goes. I’d be happy enough to see something similar here.
Absolutely! And maybe there is an option to turn auto rudder off and use hardware, but it puts the title in the game category, for me. Nothing wrong with that, but that youtuber wouldn’t know the difference
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Aces isn’t standalone VR but requires a PC…? DoJ runs natively on the Quest?
I think you’re right, and I can confirm DoJ runs on the Quest headset (no PC link required)
We can hope it has varying difficulty levels…
