Will try it tonight…
I dropped the temps by 10’c and the Kiowa’s can now get off the ground, with the standard 1 Hellfire and 150rds of 50 cal I am amazed that they have modelled the temp and altitude effects so well, and how under powered the kiowa is
I’m curious what they did there in real life, since the average high in summer is 45C. Currently the map can’t get any higher than 33~34C even if you max out the temp in the editor. If Kiowas can’t get airborne with a single hellfire and 150 rounds gun at 33~34, I don’t see how they would be able to operate in Iraq or even the Southern US where I’m sure a lot of them were based.
Casmo would be the guy to ask, but I do remember him taking about only taking like 3 rockets at a time.
They probably had the engineers flip the “wartime” switch to get a bit of extra power out of the engine… but it’s also possible our Kiowa is undermodelled or there’s some heavy equipment they removed in theater that we can’t remove in the sim?
I think I figured out why a task complete message didn’t trigger here. Guessing by the power lines, that’s Camp Walton, right? I haven’t (yet) made a troop transport mission for that FOB so that’s probably why the trigger didn’t fire–there was no trigger
For the moment I’m saving Camp Walton for Mi-8 troop transport, but haven’t made it or the others yet.
Downloading it- where do I put this mission again?
users/saved games/DCSworld/missions… it should be in your main drive C/
Thanks man!
Targets spotted … 2 in the open and armed
good effect on target
@Clutch awsome mission/sandbox to play in
Nice! I think that was the JTAC I had issues getting to work.
I’m itching to make a Kola sandbox with Russian armored columns now…and there goes my vacation lol.
At the moment I’m spicing up one of the Kandahar Hook missions to have a hot LZ. Plus adding what I like to call “thorns:” An occasional disgruntled guy with an AK scattered about on city outskirts where you’re highly unlikely to come across them, but might have a potshot or two taken at you if you happen to wander into the right (or wrong) spot.
looking forwards to that already, do the standard RPG troops in DCS take pot shots at slow low aircraft that would spice up the odd ak wielding local
I was thinking about it but I’ve had so many bad experiences getting insta-killed at 130kts by an RPG I never saw so many times I’m holding off on that one. I’d like to place a MANPAD or two somewhere as well.
Version 0.953 is up.
Mi-8 tasks added.
“Thorns” added.
Miscellaneous fixes and housekeeping.
As a side note- I know the Huey is not as capable as other ariframes but I was wondering if there was the chance to add that too?
I’m mulling it, but not sure what tasks to give it other than sneeki breeki CIA insertion/extraction over relatively short distances. Probably something I’ll definitely add when I get around to a Marianas sandbox.
I totally understand.
If you’re up for suggestions I might have a few.
So two of the JTACs in Helmand, Pointer and Ferret, got busted with the update. More trees were added in the update (not in the changelog) and those just happened to be right in their LOS, so I’ll have to move them and their targets somewhere nonsensical with no cover or concealment
What do you have in mind?
just pulling latest version to give a throw … anyone want to have an impromptu MP on it tonight
Looks like Ferret, Pointer, and Hammer JTACs in Helmand have issues. Everything else in Helmand and Lashkar should work, so if you get tasked with those three JTACs just skip them for now. Currently working on a fix but can’t figure out why they immediately report “no further tasking.” On paper everything is groovy.
Hotfix for the Helmand JTACs. Everything is marked by IR pointer instead of buddy lasing as well–was in the middle of adjusting a lot of things when I found these JTAC issues. v.09531 hotfixed
I should get these sorted and push them on Saturday mornings local time to fit ya’ll’s flying schedule lol.
