Meanwhile: The Cowboys are… I have no words for whatever that is. Granted, the Ravens are good, but the Cowboys are also shooting their own feet there.
But Brady is getting better! I really enjoy his commentary today.
Edit: the 4th quarter looked pretty good for the Boys. Now they should try doing that in the first quarter.
I couldn’t watch the game as it was Thursday night (a.k.a. 3AM here in Germany), but I watched a highlights video. Wow.
Even as a kinda delusional Cowboys fan (it is part of the culture I guess) I can admit that barely beating the (underwhelming, to say the least) Giants, together what we saw in the other games, means bad news (or good news, if you support the Commanders or Eagles).
Of course they will probably still play a mediocre season, then maybe make it into the playoffs by pure luck, and then lose their first game.
Sometimes I wish they would just finally tank one season and then rebuild.
Agree. I like Dak and I think that blaming everything on him is idiotic. And he isn’t a bad QB.
But comparing him to Mahomes is absolutely ludicrous. You have to be delusional to put those two into the same tier.
Dak on a good day is pretty great. Dak when he isn’t in panic is good. Dak when he has a good O-Line and receivers is pretty great. But Dak in panic, when stuff goes wrong, is a catastrophe. When it really matters he is almost like the Fitzmagic/Fitztragic meme, just a tad more consistent.
I’d put Dak into the upper third of the QBs in the last 10 years.
But he isn’t in the top 10, let alone comparable with Mahomes.
Dem boys get routed in the playoffs or don’t make it: You expect it, it hurts less.
OR.
Dem boys win a play off game! And you’re surprised!
But, still, you just can’t compare Dak to Mahomes. Few QBs can be. I liked being able to compare Love to Mahomes! But, at the same time, Dak has the talent. He has “it.” The premise of giving him such a contract is to keep someone with that talent and make sure he develops.
That last part is the hard part. I don’t think the Cowboys organization has the best QB developmental program. Sure, as a Packer-backer, I’m talking from a position of immense privilege, but you need the infrastructure in place to develop that talent. So, I think that’s the real issue with the Cowboys and that’s the coaching talent.
This season especially has proven how important even a half-way decent locker room can be: Darnold, Fields, Willis, etc.
I don’t think a tank is the way forward. I think a tank could be the immediate symptom of corrective behavior, but I think it’s time to pull the training staff out by the roots and start over there again. I think the Boys have the talent in their roster, not so much in their education.
As a 49ers fan I adore Dak Prescot, best thing to ever happen to our playoff picture every season.
He’s had 8 years to develop, he’s getting up there in age for an NFL QB. They are way past the time period where it’s reasonable to expect him to improve.
Yeah, their system failed him. Best they can do is commit to him, rinse the front office and staff, draft a new prospect, then have him sit behind Dak to succeed him. Get him that in-organization experience and try again.
I Don’t know what to say. The Cowboys won again. (Yay?) And once more the game was too late for me to watch, and I watched the highlight video on YT.
That was… something. I mean: At least they didn’t choke again at the end.
But let’s be honest: With that turnover ratio they should not have won that game. I cannot tell from the video if the Dallas defense was good or the Pittsburgh offense was bad, but either way that isn’t a result to be proud of I guess.
