It should be no small secret that I have a fondness for pirate games of all varieties.
Having given up on the terrible mess that has become Naval Action, I’m intrigued to follow this one.

Would you play Star Citizen, But Sailing Ships? “Ahoy!”
I’m not sure if comparing it to Star Citizen is the best way to advertise this (or any) game. But colour me intrigued.
Update: after reading the website.
I’m not particularly keen on not being able to operate a ship by myself and reliant on other players to fill the officer ranks (AI crew only take care of the ‘grunt’ work). No solid numbers on how many players per ship, but the context was at least 4 and maybe as many as 10 for the larger vessels?
Their (not guaranteed) open world goal is perhaps overly ambitious and a big ask IMHO, without that it is basically sailing ship deathmatch or capture the flag.
Also, putting into the kickstarter basically means you are paying to be a bug tester. You will still have to pay for the game when (if?) it is released. On the plus side, there is no planned pay-to-win?
From the website FAQ:
There are other planned systems to discourage mindless violence against peaceful players. Ultimately, the punishment for engaging in combat without the correct procedures in place, or consistently targeting smaller, merchant or civilian vessels will result in devastating reputation punishments from most nations, not just the one you are actively attacking.
We hope that with these systems, and a general community-wide intention to maintain a sense of roleplay and historical accuracy, there will be no need for a blanket ‘No PVP’ flag, or a separate server for PVE-only players.
Good luck with that! Griefers gotta grief - name one PvP MMO without them.
If they can pull it off, then it should be amazing. I won’t be contributing to the kickstarter, but wake me up when it is for sale as an open world MMO.

Same as @Harry_Bumcrack making it a MP only title pretty much is a guarantee that I am not interested.
