I started with career option too, but sold the Cessna, figuring I’d at least lease something more capable. But to lease, I had to have a reputation of 40% (or 50?). So ended up buying back a Cessna
Lol! I thought about it. But there was no way I’d be able to afford anything else. Should be fun getting enough money to get out the 172 though
I’ll bet I did…I’ll have to go back and look at the screens…actually it looks like I was actually over the Energy Northwest site just a bit to the east…
Yes - I used the 2017 version of KEAT. The ortho doesn’t quite match the beginning of the runway…but you barely notice it. Mostly I like it because it fixes that terrain cliff toward the bank of the river.
I would recommend small bites at it if you are getting your X-Plane install up to speed. I’d install something, test, make sure it is good, then move on. I’ve usually never had great success at installing everything at once, then firing up the sim only to realize one step in the dozen prior wasn’t a good one.
If only I listened to that advice. It’s the same I give. I just don’t do it.
I think you can use helicopters…but I am not positive you can use helicopters to helipads. I could be wrong on that though. So you might be limited to airport-airport ops… That could be old news though that got changed.
Oh boy. I didn’t realize orbx wrote over my scenery.ini…
Lovely. Now I have to go clean that up since everything is completely out of order. Ahhhhhh
Cumulus granitus…
Well…even if you start with the $100K and the Cessna 172 - it isn’t too much of a grind to just get to that 40% reputation level. At that level, you can then lease a big airplane. I did that in the P3D version of AH2 I think my progression was:
Cessna 172 (SOLD immediately)
Maule M7-260
Cessna 185F
Then I think I made enough reputation to get a loan and I bought a Twin Otter, but didn’t fly it enough. Backed off to a Kodiak and then a Caravan I think toward the end.
You could always get a freeware plane like the Bush 172 from Propstrike and import it into the game. I think it runs around 190K new…
The only SwAF jet they will allow me to fly (sigh)
Yeah, thought about that. But I really suck at landing it. Does it have higher load? If so, maybe I’ll practise. Looks like it’s going to take a while to get 40% reputation. One trip only earns me 1 %. And looks like it’s only for cargo, and is averaged down with passenger rep… Can I do "transfer to ai"on any job to accelerate the process? Does it hurt reputation? Need to rtfm on this part.
About to start my (well, Klarence Ball’s) check ride for newly minted Mudspike Light Industrial Flight Transport Services. Let’s see how this goes
It might have a higher load…but it is a tail dragger so does require some attention. And to be honest…those 172s in the high and hot region of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho can struggle. That is why I’m really liking my little Husky…it has some oomph to it.
Gargh. Did the check ride ok. Then tried to do a quick missing transporting meat from KEAT to KOMK. I was taxiing to parking at KOMK and hit the map button to get an airport layout … and X-Plane crashed. I am having flashbacks to Falcon 4 and getting 90% of the way through a mission only to have it crash and lose progress.
I guess I will try it again tomorrow
Are you running beta x-plane?
Might want to use phone or tablet for maps? Haha. Mostly a joke…
Stall horn has become a regular sound in the cabin now during ascend. I can’t set AP to climb at 500fpm or it would slow down too much. Had a trip to the west. From KEAT of 1250ft, had to climb over 4.5k shortly, later over 8k when going around Mt Rainier, then down to just couple hundred ft to land. The scenery was great.
