Air Simulation Company DCS: C130J

I wish it was an earlier model, the C-130H for instance…

I think it’s gonna be a while before DCS World is no longer carried on the backs of four elephants atop a turtle

Yeah… So far no map has a round-earth base.

IIRC there was somewhere in their discord the point of ‘if it’s successful enough we just might…’

But then again my memory is what it is.

I may have just had a small accident… and pressed the BUY button …oh well, now have two things on pre-order

Yep, this will be a buy, just something about being able to yeet 21,000lbs out the back of a C-130.

Would love to see a gunship variant but this will add some variety to DCS.

Sometimes you like that lazy cargo trip.

Fine. This one makes a fool of me and my “I’m not buying anything for DCS” argument

Ordered.

Dangit, this is tempting. One of my favorite science teachers in high school flew C-130Hs for the Guard, and had lots of amazing stories about it. Not to mention I grew up seeing the NC ANG Hercs flying over my house pretty reguarly (they operated out of Douglas, and our house was under one of the approach paths into 36R/ departure paths out of 18L).

Gimme Fat Albert and the 145th Airlift Wing as skins and I know I’m not gonna be able to say no.

It’s also an expansion of the experience.

In terms of modules released this year, the Fulcrum and Corsair are extensions of current experiences and capabilities we have. The Herc is going to be an expansion of possible mission sets.

This is a totally new experience. So, yeah, understandable.

If preferred, you can also buy a key directly from the dev here:

I have already bought it via ED

I think it was big of ED to put that link in the very newsletter announcing the preorder. Means they understand and respect some of us wanting to pay the dev directly instead of through them.

Anyway, preordered. Even if I will rarely fly it. Just that one evening of doing a big glorious dusk flock of mudspike herkybirds should be well worth it

Don’t they get a cut, either way?

Yes they do, either as “platform tax” or directly. But I like the gesture they make by having the link in that newsletter. Shows they acknowledge the trust issues stemming from the razbam excremental storm.

Okay, I see your POV. Very fair!

I’m promoting myself to “mudspike logistical commander”

The same for me, I would have preferred a Cold War variant with steam-gauges over the glass-cockpit with FMS.Still it is something completely new in DCS so I got it.

I hope that the Kola map will still add some of Norwegian regional airfields like Honningsvåg.The C-130 should feel quite at home there.
