Released!
Had a quick flight with the passenger version, this aircraft continues to impress me.
As per the changelog, I did have a noticeable improvement in performance.
I’ve seen various comments (on Reddit for instance) that this is one of the best add-on aircraft ever released. Like I said, I’ve not given it a whirl yet, but it is pretty nice to be considered at the top of the league in a crowded field of quality add-ons…
I’d easily put it up there with my all-time favorite pay ware aircraft (PMDG NGX, Majestic Dash 8) and it’s certainly my favorite for XP11.
I am real fan of these add-ons, like this A300. But I dont own one, and I have no definitive plan to purchase one. Why? I just dont know the ‘how to’ fly this heavy metal.
How do you guys fly these air-buses?
you prefer short legs?
do you use ‘16x ground speed’ acceleration?
do you fly the departure, reach FL, set AP and go have a coffee and chat with stewardess?
…
all at once?
Personally I don’t generally do flights over about two hours in length.
Typically the ones I do are right around an hour to an hour and a half and around 300NM.
It keeps me busy for the departure and arrival with relatively minimal time up at cruise sitting on my hands.
I’m with @boomerang10 on this one - even with long haul aircraft I usually only use them in about two hour legs. I’m most interested in doing SIDs, STARs, and instrument approaches and not really enthused about flying a 12 hour oceanic route.
I am just beginning to scratch the surface of the “tubeliner” world with the 727 on the Xmas trek.
It is definitely a different side of simming and it gives purpose for learning a little bit about flying IFR, which is a whole new world for me.
Unlike helo simming, where it’s mostly all hands on the flight deck all the time just to avoid imminent death, I’ve been able to mix the airliner flight sessions with a bit of other tasks, studying the approach plates and the flight manual during the cruise phase etc. (perhaps a load of laundry on the side too, although this can be dangerous) - the focus seems to be a bit more about thinking 10 minutes or 30 minutes ahead rather than the next 30 seconds ahead like in the Hip. If you get it right, everything can happen in a rather stately manner, but get behind and you start to wish you had more hands and eyes and brains really quickly.
As the others have said, the departures and arrivals are the fun part so minimising time in cruise (unless used for other stuff) is generally a good thing for the simming experience…but you do cover ground quickly when up high so if you’re a little time constrained like I am, it’s quite nice to eat some distance while preparing dinner or whatever.
I’m definitely warming up to it.
I love the big PAX and cargo planes, I have no idea why but I just do.
I fly all sorts of length of flights. My SOP is 2 hours or less during work days and then whatever on the weekends. I dont like flying long flights but sometimes its fun to hop over the ocean.
For long flights once I reach FL i walk off, Normally that involves watching TV or playing Xbox or whatever wonderful chores I have around the house. I check back in periodically. Once I get close to decent Im back in the chair ready to fly it on down. I dont use time accel at all.
For really long flights, think anything to Australia, I have even taken off and went to bed.
thx guys for the inputs. Encouraged by your thoughts I just went… and flew the default XP 738… VFR style
It is going to take some time till I will get to fly these things properly.

Might be the easiest buy for XP11. Perfect for the Mudspike Air Delivery rebirth.
That is an easy purchase for anyone that doesn’t have it. It’s a great aircraft.
