If at first you don’t succeed…

…make more airholes.

Even the ‘mistakes’ look good. Can’t wait to see (and hopefully own a copy of) the finished product!

Looks lovely Troll! How far are you into planning the logistics of this? I am quite curious in how you will solve that problem!

He’s already got a delivery aircraft working with the RNoAF…just say’n…

You mean the production line and delivery?
It’s a side gig. Production rate will be slow and in batches. Production will follow my schedule. I’m doing this in my spare time, and I haven’t promised anyone anything.
I’m using off the shelf hardware as much as possible, so getting refill is a matter of online ordering.

I’m setting up a prototype testing phase of 10 units. That will show if I can make this out of plastic, or of I have to start melting metal.

So, basically, no plans…yet.

Hi Troll. Im following this thread with great interest. Is there a chance you’ll sell both the flight stick and the radar handle as a combo deal? Cheers!

Unfortunately no… The radar handle is just an aproximation based on photos. I’d only do it if I could copy a real radar stick. And besides, doing the flight control stick is taking up enough of my time as is.
Keep an eye out for NoveAir Replicas though. Johan are doing the panels and the Rb05 controllers. Maybe he’ll do the Radar stick as well.

Yeah, I thought so. Thanks anyways. Really cool radar handle though. :+1:t2:

The radar handle…hmmm…really only use it to move the cursor around…so I would think a low-tech joystick might do nicely. Hmmmm…need to check my "closet of forgotten peripherals. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well…if you didn’t spend as much time on that commercial airline pilot hobby of yours, you would have more time for the really important stuff!

I must confess I haven’t read this thread for some time but I’m amazed about the progress! I have the Novelair replica stick which is a mould from a real one and yours looks very similar! Great work! Can’t wait to use it to ‘styr the Viggen’ with it.

I’m definitively a customer for the first batch

I had to create an account just to say this work is incredible. Here’s hoping I find a magical bag of unlimited money because if this joystick hits production, it would be a great thing to get. Same with the panels on that novelair website!

Thanks, @aaronwhite1786 and welcome to Mudspike! :mudspike:

Yes, Johans panels are really, really, beautiful!
I hope I can do them justice, with this stick…

Certainly looks like you don’t have much to worry about on that front.

Seeing those panels is nice too. I was looking to make my own, but considering I’m starting with absolutely no knowledge about DIY controller making, having the hardest part of the process being done by someone else means I can focus on learning how to wire the thing instead!

Welcome to this community!
Isn’t it amazing how @Troll manage to make everything look easy to do?!
A true genius there!

No kidding! I was scrolling through this thinking “Wow, this doesn’t look that hard”. Then realized it’s the same as watching some home repair show where they’re effortlessly like “And this is how you make a stained glass window from scratch” and you’re sitting there like “Yeah, I could probably do that”.

Yup, that’s the textbook definition of @Troll

Herregud, I love what I am seeing here! I love the Gripen control stick and as far as I know, they had this one in mind when making the new one. I’m really hoping to get my hands on one of these one day.
