I’m with you there Chris. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter. At minimums you can either see the runway lights or you can’t. That is the only thing that really matters.
The funny thing is that when I brief an approach I always include the approach light system. It’s a bit moot really.
I’m an optimist - I brief which taxiway we might expect to turn off on…LOL…
You haven’t lived as an instrument pilot until you’ve use the red terminating bars for real. And No, I would not have been able to name any. I just brief whatever it says on the chart–and then look at the picture.
Actually - that image of the approach lights looks a lot like what Charlotte looks like at 5AM after having been up all the previous day and flown all night…so…which runway are we cleared for the visual to?
What approach lights? I usually have both eyes closed
