Since it’s a cdlc and not actually part of a3 itself, the dlc has to completely redownload for some packaging or DRM reason. Its the same with Global Mobilization.
Huh. I have all the CDLCs (even the awful Czech one ) and never noticed that.
ETA: Briefly got to check it out. Loads of new stuff for the Aussies, great FN-FAL (Sorry, L1A1) and the best M1 Garand depiction I’ve ever seen in a video game. Pretty sweet. Then right as I thought “Well cool, now the only thing we lack for some cool WWII, Korea or early ARVN action is a BAR.”
Then lo and behold… There it is!
Looking to broadcast today at Noon Eastern a series of ArmA3 Vietnam missions based on the book, Recondo by Larry Chambers, missions by FUBAR. I read the book years ago was pretty awesome, hoping the missions are true and faithful as much as possible. There’s 4 chapters done with more coming, don’t know how long each will take so not sure how many I’ll get through. Stop by if interested. (casual broadcaster, crappy player but we will see.)
(subject to change or cancellation… someone might call me for a MC ride and lunch. lol)
GREAT MISSIONS ruined by stupid AI, which have been a problem since release… this series would be much better as a 5 player co-op.
Highly recommend the book “Recondo” by Larry Chambers. About the LRRP’s from the 101st Airborne in Vietnam 1968. (I read it years ago). Then play the excellent mission series with the same name by FUBAR in ArmA3. (S.O.G. Prairie Fire add-on required but nothing else needed.) Based on missions from the book. Realistic mission types of LRRP’s. I had a blast playing them all, took a few tries with the idiot AI teammates getting lost. Can be played SP with you as the team leader or 5 player co-op which would be awesome. Each mission is about an hour long 4 missions so far, 6 planned.
The DLCs seem to come out first as ‘epbo’ (I guess encrypted pbo - archive format). This makes them harder to crack and distribute. Unfortunately the encryption used is not really up for delta updates, so instead of replacing a few dozen MB in a pbo, the whole pbo archive needs to be updated. So basically any update to a (creators) DLC is very expensive in terms of network bandwidth used.
Just finished Recondo, a terrific book that filled in some of the gaps in my understanding after reading only helicopter stuff. Thanks @Magnum50!
