Assetto Corsa EVO

Steam page is live for Assetto Corsa EVO. No release date yet but system requirements are posted.

Nothing to crazy for us Flight sim guys.

Looks like it could be some good eye candy. Strikes me as a track day sim more than a race day sim.

Replacement for the original Assetto Corsa, not Competitzione? Sounds good to me!

Almost 10 years since the first AC came out.

My main issue with Kunos has been the lack of AI cars in MP races, meaning it’s pretty dull if you just have 2 or 3 people in your race. I wonder if this will discontinue that trend or if I will need to stick with Automobilista 2 for MP races.

I wonder if this will have anything more than AC besides better graphics and physics. Right now, AC is like the DCS World of racing. If you try to play it single player, it’s nothing more than disconnected practice scenarios unless you buy a campaign. Yet AC has no career DLC.

It would be cool if AC EVO ever comes to consoles, they implement some kind of mod/store front (kinda like Starfield has).

I own AC and ACC on PC and my consoles, and without the addons on console, the base AC game is so dry and bare… ouch.

Seems like they are addressing the need for SP content finally.

So it starts next week, then. I wonder what the initial EA price will be?

It’s out in Early Access.

I’m sure most of you got an email if you have it on your Steam wishlist.
$32 USD (-20% off) until 30 January. I plan to give it a whirl in a few hours.

Let us know what you think. The launch video looked promising.

There are a lot of live streams on YT now. Physics and graphics mostly positive, VR mixed, UI mostly negative, but acknowledged as being in early access.

About a 15GB download. Game loads up and you are presented with a Road Map…

Spent some time mapping the wheel and pedals. The pedals were “backwards” when I first hopped in a car so I had to invert the pedals.

(FYI all pics, except the first, in ultra widescreen 5120x1440)

Main Menu

Only 5 base tracks with a few of them including their multiple layouts.

75 cars to choose from, but many are just different variations and/or livery. I think it’s just 6 different cars at the moment, but it’s related to some connectivity issue mentioned below.

Ferrari at Laguna Seca

VW Golf GTI Sport at Brands Hatch. Heavy Rain. :grimacing:

Porsche RSR at Imola

VW Golf GTI Sport at Suzuka East

Mercedes at Brands Hatch

My initial take:

Not a ton of content at early access. King of reminds me of the Le Mans Ultimate release.

Graphics are superb. I’ve got it at Ultra at 5120x1440. 130-200fps. Nvidia 4090RTX, i9 13900KS.

Audio seem ok. Tire scrub is a bit annoying- I turned that audio slider down.

Force Feedback seems legit. Lots of different FFBsliders to move around. I didn’t touch those yet. The low speed FFB seems heavier than the other sim I’m driving. Overall driving experience out of the box is good.

Apparently the Online feature is broken. Not sure if there is more content to try. I guess no Nordschleife at the moment, unless getting ONLINE brings us there??? . The devs tweeted this:

I think I like this EA approach. I can invest into unfinished game early but I actually can play that game after payment. if all goes well in the end I get the full game for cheap. or I can wait if it picks up and buy finished product for more money.

think this is much better approach than pre-order EA product with discount. ED should learn.

A bunch of resellers are also selling ACE, like Greenman Gaming and Game Billet. They are legit sites. If you know you’re going to keep ACE anyway, might consider using them, as they are currently around $5 cheaper.

So…I’ve got it since release….have about 2hrs of playing time in VR with XBox controller…Im totally blown away by the new game engine Kunos have created…the graphics are Stunning!!
I’m not totally in sync with the controls settings as The only other Racing Sim I play is LMU so I guess it’s only natural to compare the experience?
Yea I’m really enjoying this….the lighting is so cool and dynamic….Im also very happy with the introduction EA price. And so far I believe the developers have launched 3 patches??
This might be the Sim to take some of my Virpil flight sim stuff apart and go Full Race Wheel/Pedals
Enjoying Evo
