I have been flying the viper a bit lately (weasels syria campaign). It is awesome as ever. However, I noticed the thing no longer is able to autopilot like I’m used to it doing. Used to be, you flick the right one up to alt hold and the other one down to course select and it will hold altitude and fly towards the steerpoint like the good little robot it is.
No more! I did exactly like I always do, but the alt hold drifts like a drunk motherfugger. It just can’t maintain. Course select only very weakly tries to move towards the steerpoint.
Is there something broken in my viper? Could anyone try theirs and see if its me or the DCS viper? Thanks.
I quickly updated my DCS to give this a try for you (honestly.. too hot to be doing any simming for me at the moment) and.. I get perfectly reasonable and expectable responses out of the F-16’s autopilot. Both from steer and heading modes and both alt and att modes. Perhaps if you shared a track or a clip or something we could help you troubleshoot if a DCS repair won’t do it. Just to make sure, you’re not accidentally overiding the autopilot with the paddle?
Noisy stick axis perhaps? I’ve had to add a deadzone of 2-3 on my pitch/roll axes in most modules in order to get autopilot working. I seem to recall the Viper and Hornet were the fussiest about this.
