Interesting!!
This is the first I’ve heard of a Senna series…

That looks amazing. It’s uncanny how much the lead actor resembles Ayrton. I hope that they keep creative license to a minimum, but very much looking forward to this series.

… And it airs in two days time :astonished:

I know what I will be watching.

I’ve always been a Senna fan and I think his Monaco qualifying lap in 1988 is, and always will be, the greatest display of driving ever.

Hawt Dawg! Is this is gonna make me break out my RFactor, wheel, pedals and shifter?

They need to do a Valentino Rossi one next. I’m a 2-wheeler guy at heart.

Call me all the names in the world- but I’m always going to be misty eyed when I think about him.

Way too soon. I hope this series renders him justice, and from the look of it, it would seem so.

Been following this for a bit. Clicking refresh on Netflix!
Many people are comparing this to the 2010 Senna documentary. But we shouldn’t go in with those expectations. One is a documentary for educational purposes. This is a movie mini series for entertainment.

Check out the behind the scenes. Interestingly many of the racing scenes are CGI using skeleton cars. Also for us sim racers, check out the brief scene at 2:45ish. :grinning:

More on the cars. It looks like a very worthy effort. Going to fire up AMS2 over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Ok, just finished it, all 6 episodes. Guess that says I liked it. Was well done. If you’re a racing fan (the kind where you get to turn left AND right!) you should like it too. Kinda made me nostalgic for the 1980’s also.

Just binged the first 3 episodes. And for a docu-drama it is really good.

IMHO there are two golden Era’s for F1 - the '60s and the '80s

I like the late 70s also, since this was a time when the teams began using ground effect and there some interesting drivers, like Gilles Villeneuve and papa Andretti. Mario probably wouldn’t be considered a great F1 driver (he did win 14 races), but he was the only US driver besides Phil Hill to win both races and a championship. Andretti was born and lived in Italy until he was 15, so @komemiute probably can lay claim to him as well  :raised_back_of_hand:. We can share him.

A bit like one of my heroes from the '60s - Chris Amon. Probably one of the best drivers to never win a F1 championship. I think Papa Andretti once said ‘if he was a mortician no one would ever die’.

Ok, just spent the weekend watching it. LOVED IT. Cried a bit, laughed a lot. Lusted after… the CARS of course. Great series. Lot like RUSH.

Hey thanks for mentioning that 2010 documentary, watched it over the weekend and really enjoyed it.

Only a bit into racing in general, but what a great film. Loved how they only used period/archival footage for the whole thing.

Reminded me of this one (on netflix as well) about Apollo 13, same kind of technique where it’s all archival footage/interviews

That 2010 documentary truly is a master piece production. If you walked away with dry eyes, then you’re not human. I’m looking forward to binging this Netflix movie series later this week when I get home (and the wife is outta town for a few days :stuck_out_tongue: )

I think you will like the series. It is more focused on Senna ‘the man’ rather than Senna ‘the driver’ and like ‘Rush’ overdoes it a bit with some of the personal interactions… for dramatic effect. But yeah, it had me shedding a tear or two in places.
