Has anyone here played that Black Myth: Wukong game? Just trying to figure out why it had over 2.5 million Steam players when it was released. Apparently it was a big deal.
I ran the free benchmark demo and decided to wait a few years before enjoying it.
Same as Poneybirds here - and I still need to finish Wild Hunt so starting another game like that probably isn’t the best idea
Also, I was raised on this:
Not sure how it will affect my appreciation for the game (it probably won’t, I also read a written translation of the story when I was a kid)
So was I. “Great sage equal of heaven” has been indelibly imprinted on my brain
So did I. I know I still have the copy around here someplace, but it is probably in the bottom of a box in the shed? This is the version I have:
Yes! It was the Waley translation I read as well I’m pretty sure, but I thought it was a Penguin Books softcover (that is many decades ago now - I may well be wrong about the physical book but the name “Waley” sprung out at me immediately so I’m fairly sure that’s the same one)
I don’t think anyone needed to have liked or even seen the Speed Racer cartoon to know the Wachowskis’ film was going to fail after seeing the trailer.
Can 2 million Chinese gamers be wrong? I’m fairly certain they’ve done this story in games before, too. So this may just be the biggest budgeted version they’ve done with the best appearance yet.
Though that is like “can 0.14% of the population be wrong”?
But I get what you’re saying - it is a great story!
