Noo the Lightning is great! I agree with the deranged choices, I only disagree with the boring ones.
(I would not include Comet in a top 10, but the Nimrod would probably be there).

Comet is a gorgeous machine, and spitfire might be vanilla, but that’s just because it is the very definition of beauty.

Yes the Comet is nice.
The Spitfire wings are awesome. But the tail is too small, the canopy is ugly (too many shapes combined in too small a space with a weird mirror stuck on top), the way the fuselage cross-section changes between the prop spinner and the wing leading edge is weird.
Now look at this:

I think that the Comet is the best looking jet airliner ever built [period]. Too many lumps and bumps on the Nimrod (like most maritime patrol aircraft).

I was pretty sure I knew what this topic was going to be about, but I was hoping…
The Beaufighter, as a kid I always thought it would fly perfectly fine if those were pusher props, the pointy end is supposed to go forward after all.
Hmm Comet is definitely up there, I’d also add the VC10.
The empennage always made me think of the V bombers.
