Absolutely horrific. There have been police standing guard outside synagogues, temples, and mosques here for several years now during services, because these kinds of monsters exist in this world, and they’re getting more bold. My heart hurts for the families and the communities who were impacted by this.

But for the actions of at least one courageous bystander, a few more may have perished. It appears that he administered a swift and appropriate judgement.

From the footage he managed to disarm the shooter, who ran away.
He also got shot in the process, it isn’t clear if that was while he was wrestling the shotgun away or after by an accomplice. Apparently he is recovering in hospital… He deserves a bloody medal!

Terrible that killing people just because of their religion or ethnicity still happens everywhere, even in Australia.
My thoughts are with all those affected in any way: the direct victims, the hundreds or thousands who had a friend or relative there, and millions who could feel threatened and persecuted because of this.

What a truly awful act of terror by the perpetrators. So many innocent victims. That act of heroism certainly saved lives. I hope he recovers from his wounds and is properly recognised for his actions by the Australian government.

From the news I see one of the gunmen died at the scene but the other is in critical condition. If he survives that will be an interesting prison stay and possibly a short one at that .

The man is an absolute unit. The way that coward slinked off when he was disarmed made me inordinately happy. Absolutely pathetic.

I can only imagine how hard his heart was pounding when approaching the shooter- mentally repeating “Please don’t turn now”
