I just read that Jim Anderson, the son of USAF Col. Clarence E. ”Bud” Anderson has stated that his father passed away yesterday, surrounded by his loved ones.
Now there is a life worthy of celebration!
Rest in Peace, and thank you!

Just saw the news on FB. The last time I saw him at Planes of Fame he was 100 and still more spry than men 20 and 30 years his junior.

I’m lucky enough to have his autograph on one of those signed Eyes of Eagles prints along with Yeager, Overstreet, and O’Brian’s autographs on it…
I was fortunate enough to meet Col. Anderson at a Flying Legends airshow at Duxford back in the early 2000’s timeframe. He was signing a photo of him flying Old Crow and looked bored out of his mind as people lined up for him to sign. I’m guessing that most really didn’t know who he was other than an ‘Ace’. I told him I had read his book “To Fly and Fight” and really enjoyed it. His smile at that was priceless. I still have the signed photo.
