FWIW Iām of the opinion that as a starting point this is the best possible F-4 to choose. Itās late enough that it fits well with the Mirage, the F-14 & the majority of AI aircraft in DCSās library. It has enough weapons and systems capability to be genuinely interesting, but itās not too far beyond the pale that you couldnāt throw it in the inevitable Vietnam scenario and have it feel too out of place. The E was the most widely exported, this includes Iran, Greece, Germany (if you keep the Sparrows off), Israel, Japan, Egypt and Korea. If you unload the gun, that also includes Spain and Australia. It fits well, itās versatile, and represents about half the world.
Iād have personally preferred an F-4J or an F-4S for obvious reasons, and hope those come along eventually, but this is logically the best start. Kudos to Belsimtek.
