The crew in this one must not know what a go around is…

Never a great thing when you touch down near the FAR END fixed distance markers…haha…

Unless you are in a Turbo-Porter… then you would probably be ok. Not so much in an Airbus though.

Removed…thanks for pointing that out…

Awesome song, though for me that last clip of the Airbus crossed the line to bad taste.

That was air france flight 296. 3 unfortunate souls perished and 133 survived that carnage.

Yep. I made the mistake of listening to that song in a window that was not in focus on my monitor…loved the lyrics but did not actually watch the video. Will see if there is a version without the distasteful visual ending. Thanks for pointing it out…

I just wrote a message on here saying it looks a lot like an unmanned aircraft crash that I’ve seen and I thought the video makers might of made a mistake and put the wrong footage on the song.

However, when I tried to link the video to show the similarities and how easy as mistake it was to make, i could only find the air France footage.

This led me down a rabbit hole where this same footage is described as an unmanned flight where they were flight testing an automated landing system for pilotless flight.

I’m not sure how this has happened but it does kind of exonerate the song makers as they could of quite possibly not realised the true tragic nature of this and thought quite reasonably that they would be putting an unmanned airliners crash in. I will investigate some more but this to me looks like an innocent mix up rather then a callous attempt to use crash footage

Even I was sure the video I had seen was a pure white (i thought 767) crashing into trees but its definitely the same footage

Interesting

Hey, no problem. It’s a shame because the rest of it was well done. I suppose different people have different ideas about where the line between bravely comedic and poor taste lies.

EDIT:

Just read this - we posted at the same time  - and I guess that would put a different spin on it.

I think this version has the Airbus accident cut out…

I know not everyone is as old as me  But, for those of us of a certain age, The A320 Fly-By crash is as famous and indelible as the Kennedy assassination. It is very hard for me to imagine someone making a mistake of intent with either. It isn’t the disrespect for lost life that is a turn-off for me. It is more that the A320 crew could not have gone around because they had no idea they were in trouble in the first place, at least until it was too late to properly react. Their error was one of perspective. The song’s admonition is “when in doubt, go around”. Good advice. This crew, this Captain anyway, did try to go around but he was way behind the power curve and way late in recognizing the problem when he pushed 'em to the firewall. The motors had begun to spool just moments before FOD-ing out. Anyway, it’s no great crime. The internet has a way of being righteous.

Used to love Vr engine failure in the King Air.

The King Air is definitely way more exciting to fly in the sim than the Citation. I’m sure that Islander you flew was no picnic with a simulated engine out…I can’t imagine that remaining engine had all that much excess power to help you out…

With one engine out at mtow the Islander climbs at the curvature of the earth

Never a good thing when you need to draw straws to see which people get to jump out in order to save the rest…

Lost an engine twice in the Islander. Cheap knock off parts. Each side inside two weeks. This was the first. Fair Isle summer 2000. Note the tie down blocks. They were needed. Spent five days there. I borrowed a boiler-suit off a fisherman, Warm hat and yellow wellies from a crofter. The boiler suit had no zip or buttons so needed to be tied at the waist with bailing twine. The yellow bad weather jacket was mine
