Completely Off the Wall Question

Or just install your own in the middle of the night. Perhaps lower the speed limit as well. I hear road signs can be legally purchased online these days.

If by “diplomacy” you mean “Scotch”, I’m with you.

That’s true - I put this up at the end of our lane and it’s working so far…

You were probably beginning to doubt that claim last week!

Warnings wont work for some coming down the road. Id have medium corner mirrors and always have the motor ready to stretch the conrods.

I know that is an upopular option overseas, but I’d suggest building a roundabout. Put a durandal in the middle of the road and wait till the crater fills up with cars.

2 mysteries solved at once:
Why the air to air oriented Mirage 2000C is capable of carrying Durandals and why France has such an incredible amount of roundabouts, even for European standards

You should Google the “magic roundabout” in Swindon. Who ever thought that was a good idea needs taking outside and beating with jump leads.

It looks even worse to me, not being used to driving left side of the road.

Good idea, but perhaps too many steps at once?

In the Netherlands, we have a similar concept but much much simpler, Google “turborotonde”. You pick a lane when driving onto the roundabout and that significantly reduces conflicts

I see all this as justification to purchase a Tesla with launch control.

In my home town of Nijmegen there’s an old, huge roundabout that connects seven roads. It is almost completely unstructured. No stripes on the road, and oncoming has right of way. There are traffic lights to regulate oncoming on some of the roads in, to make sure pedestrians and cyclists can get around.

It is gorgeous, hilarious, exhilarating anarchy. A bit of Italy in northwestern Europe. You get on at the green light and then the chase is on. Because there are no lanes, you suddenly gain a new dimension of freedom, like a plane taking off.

It’s official name is “keizer Karelplein” but me and the kids, we call it the racetrack

@Deacon211, A mirror on the tree across the street (the dark tree on the right side of the first photo) would be idea. As a homeowner I can’t imagine rejecting a neighbor who’s faced with such a clear safety issue. But I would expect said neighbor to maintain the mirror and replace it or repaint it as it ages–and to do so in a way that doesn’t disfigure the tree.

We’re certainly entertaining that possibility. There’s actually a telephone pole directly across the street. It would just need a serious haircut.

But I’m increasingly attracted to the roundabout idea.

Ah, drawbridge, without the bridge!

You just have the gate come down when you approach the end of your driveway.
Flashing lights and bells optional.
