You can adjust the AI settings so they’re not quite that accurate all the time, but I forget where the settings for that are in game options.
Yeah I just turned them down to dumb noob, and got promptly pwned again. I’m done for tonight.
I have only downloaded about 30 percent anyway. Dcs has a 7gig update and is taking forever as well
Your Arma 2 experience matches mine pretty much exactly, if that makes you feel any better.
Allrighty then. This morning, having read @Franze’s excellent treatise on DCS mission design in (of course) the DCS screenshot thread, I decided to look upon the dire situation the game had placed me in as a puzzle. And decided to do something different. I flanked the position I knew the enemy to be in, skirted around it and decided not to engage.
That actually was fun! Still, this is one harsh motherlover of a game. One shot and your character is a wheezing, panting wreck for the rest of the scenario, or you just start over. Not like any game we know at all. I also really dislike the fatigue mechanic that leaves me wheezing and panting just trying to keep up with the AI squad. Perhaps this gets better when the I get to lead the squad and set the tempo.
I still utterly lack any SA. AI is hidden in the foliage and I only see them when they are right up in my grille, or I get lucky with a spot.
I still need mod recomendations. There’s tons of them out there, and I haven’t found a newbie guide yet.
Epoch sandbox is my personal favourite
whoa that’s a whole other game! base building, persistent loot… it’s almost like a minecraft-alike!
It…took over a good portion of my life.
Beat way to describe it is Dayz without the pants zombies clipping through walls and idiots camping near loot.
Let’s say altis airbase has a safe zone where you can purchase gear and vehicles. Base building equipment. Random missions spawn and some are cake and some will make you want to snap your keyboard. You get money to improve your gear and build your base of ops up.
You can be up and running with a DMR and some decent helmet and armor in 10 mins. There is so much happening. Its a very exciting AND relaxing way of playing Arma.
I remember I had a squad of 3 tucked in a chinook analogue and I was gunner in a SuperHind. We took put a load of tanks and managed to capture one. We then airlifted it back and it sat in our base for months. NOBODY knocked on that base door with that sat there.
I could reliably snipe out to about 1500m but my friend had weird sniper autism like power and could tap people at 2.5k with a .50 it was like having an ion cannon watching your back. You’d round a corner and come face to face with a tango and before you or he could pull the trigger he would just drop down dead.
Msg would come over teamspeak. “Claimed”
Awesome game.
Sounds awesome.
I don’t have TOH installed, but I guess the mission file is still available and hopefully working. Download from https://tetet.de/arma/missions/TOH_SP_Transportation.Chernarus.pbo
It’s based on the Workhorse mission of arma 2.
