Nice. I’m planning on getting back on the bike this week. I took some time off while I had COVID…I didn’t want to put any stress on my lungs. Still having some weird muscle cramping issues that I can’t figure out are due to COVID and muscle stuff…or just stopping riding cold turkey might have caused my calves to do something weird. Looking forward to getting back on the bike though…

Was watching Stage 9 of the Vuelta today and the commentators (who are fantastic…in this event…very engaging and funny pair…) started talking about the Julian Alaphillippe crash in the Tour of Flanders (which I had not watched and did not realize he had crashed).

Darn shame that wreck…just bad luck to be honest…nobody really to blame…

Spring is finally here and I managed to get out for a real ride.

After all the turbo trainer rides, it was so nice to be out.

I was enjoying it so much I didn’t even stop to take a picture of the stunning weather.

Yes, I use the same technique when winter jogging. Learned this while training in martial arts. I’ve never slipped badly and have done a lot of winter jogging

First ride for this year. My hubris got me big time though, i only knew the route from hiking and the incline absolutely killed me. There’s parts that must be in excess of 20% combined with rocks and gravel on the surface which makes it almost impossible to ride a steady pace. Had to call it quits 500m elevation below the summit as I was absolutely spent and the sun was also setting. Gonna try it again next Sunday, weather permitting, but i definitely need to bring food for the ride.

My first rides after getting back into cycling sometimes ended in tossing my cookies. I still struggle with blueberry waffles to this day…

Easy lad. I’m setting a pretty low bar, and neither one of us is going to catch @keets, now that he’s been let out of his cage :grinning:

Ha… if only. I can see turbo trainer again this week. The weather has gone winter like again. If there was such a think as a Welsh groundhog, there’s definitely more winter left this year.

Regarding bike-train-bike cummuting, etc., again an underground bike parking facility has been opened recently:

Additional techtalk: New Zwolle station bicycle parking facility – BICYCLE DUTCH

Bicycle parking as such…

A quarter all kilometers cycled in Dutch cities are to or from a public transport station. Their seamless connectivity means the 2 modes are treated as allies rather than adversaries. Inter-modal transport for the win…

Paris-Nice begins today, March 7. And my NBC Cycling Pass is still good!

Sweet…! I’ll need spoiler tags if you post about it because I’m still way back on Stage 11 of the Vuelta…

Not to worry. I won’t get to it right away either.

To me NBC is Nuclear Biological and Chemical warfare.

You cyclists lead interesting lives.

We’ve turned the corner on doping…

I’m enjoying Paris-Nice. No spoilers. But so far as of Stage 4 not the most exciting racing. But I was surprised to learn this: The super-tuck is about to be banned! They can do that? Seems a bit nanny-ish to me.

LOL…Lance Armstrong is doing a victory dance. He is on record as hating the super-tuck…he brings it up all the time on his podcast. I know, I know…the righteousness is oddly placed.

I have obviously never tried a super-tuck…never will…no need for a rec-biker to do it. I’m terrified enough when I’m bombing downhill on my carbon Revenio…I certainly don’t want to go any faster. I’m a statistics based person though…I’d be curious if the governing body has any evidence that the super-tuck is any more dangerous than any other descent. I mean…banning it because there have been markedly more accidents is one thing…doing it just because you don’t like it is another. Interesting.

For those that don’t know - this is the super-tuck position:

Perhaps it’s to discourage the amateur, rec cyclist from doing what the pros do…

This is worth a watch, the GCN guys with a semi humorous look at things the pro’s do, that rec cyclists shouldn’t.
