Dagger Directive

Remember classic Delta Force? Yeah, this has those vibes.

OK, so I absolutely love the strong visual identity. There was an obvious art direction that literally took no prisoner. I respect that.

THAT said, the trailer itself is a bit of a disaster. Itā€™s all over the place with continuous cuts and a very chaotic vibe. I will follow development but I hope to see something more cohesive.

Some of the environment remind me positively of the original Ghost Recon.

Absolutely, Iā€™d like to see some actual gameplay instead of a sizzle reel.

I want to say it might be a tactical shooter, but at the same time we canā€™t tell.

It definitely feels like the Delta Force you mentioned

Sorry, if I want to play an FPS with voxels Iā€™ll just fire up the original DF series. I didnā€™t see anything that made me feel that the engine and graphics decision is more than an attempt at nostalgia.

I mean, as I said- I am not judging the game or the fun factor. I Like very much the strong visual identity.

I am not sure if thereā€™s even more than one friendly soldier, beside the playerā€¦
Truth be told the old DF games were a bit pantsā€¦

If this is solid, I can see why nostalgia is a factor big enough to push players towards it.

DF1 and 2 havenā€™t aged gracefully.

Land Warrior is slow.

Task Force Dagger isā€¦ ok.

Black Hawk Down and Team Sabre are where the series peaked.

The Extremes areā€¦ well more of the same, but not as good.

Yeah, itā€™s not exactly gold. Games of their era, so if DD wants to be good, they need to adapt things that have arrived in subsequent years.

That said, donā€™t look too badly upon the ā€˜retro-visualsā€™ as they do hold a real benefit of being cheaper to create. This means a lot for indie developers.

EDIT: Thereā€™s a pre-recorded interview and had some gameplay.

Yup, looks like an updated Delta Force with better weapons physics, better AI, more realism, and influences from Ghost Recon. Developer does seem to know what heā€™s doing, but also confirms youā€™re going rambo on this one. The physics and mechanics sound solid, very low TTKs, so it has the pedigree of a tactical shooter.

To a point, at least.

Perhaps not, but DF1 was ground breaking on release though!

I agree! Loved BHD!

I can see myself getting Dagger Directive for my laptop.

Seen the trailer yesterday. Gives the Delta Force mixed with Operation Flashpoint vibes. Might be good. I donā€™t mind aged graphics (which is clearly aesthetical decision).

Looks pretty good for a non-AAA tac shooter. That said, where are the F-102s?!?! I saw ā€œDaggerā€ and now I want F-102s. :frowning:
