Whelp, I took a short hop in it, and…
- The artwork is very good
- The SMS is the jenkiest thing this side of the F-16A
- A FBW delta has to be simultaneously the easiest and hardest thing I’ve flown
- I don’t know what the rejoin speed for an M2k is, but I’m certain what I tried was far too slow
- The previous two points lead to a speed-attitude-altitude-PIO spiral of doom about 100 feet behind some poor S-3B.
- It’s been quite a while since there’s been a module complicated enough that reading the manual was a necessity rather than a formality. Kudos Razbam.

Put up with all of the trouble of finally rejoining with a tanker, and wouldn’t you know it the refueling switch isn’t working!
Got the released v1.5.2 on all the systems. The Huey and Black Shark have checkboxes for ‘Central Position Trimmer Mode’ and ‘Rudder Trimmer’. Should those be checked? @EinsteinEP we talked about this some time ago… TIA

Hi Crew,
I like to think of Central Position as good training tool to get the concept of the trimmer down, but I don’t use it any more and have it unchecked. Here is why - with the box unchecked, standard trimming will lock in the current position of the stick and give you a few seconds to return the stick to center so that you are not effectively “doubling” the input. With Central Trimmer Position checked the system will not lock in the input until you return the stick to center. It’s great for teaching you the importance and muscle memory of returning to center, but isn’t so great during hard maneuvering as it’s another almost permanent step in the process. Once you get trimming a helicopter there will be times when you hit that trim button and don’t return immediately to center, knowing full well you are fighting it a bit. I find I have finer control of the aircraft while still trimming constantly. I have it unchecked.
I like rudder trimmer for the Huey and have it checked. I like being able to trim in some rudder for a lengthy coordinated turn.
I do NOT like rudder trimmer for the Shark. Vikhrs need to be slewed onto their targets by the entire airframe and there is enough going on in the launch sequence to not add fighting with trim to it.
Hope that helps and lets tear up some convoys in 2016!

I’ll start off with my usual disclaimer: control configurations are very personal things. What works well for one person is a complete disaster for another.
@Tankerwade did a good job of explaining the difference between the trimmer modes: central trimmer can sometimes result in control lock out, while the other method will almost always cause control bump every time you trim. How you trim will change how each method affects you.
As for the rudder trim, I prefer to go “full real” in this regard and enable the rudder trim on all helos. @Tankerwade gives a good reason why he doesn’t like rudder trim for the Shark, and I could give my counterpoint, but it comes down to personal preference.
Ok, I got the M-2000C. It’s very much a beta as not everything is working as it should, but RAZBAM is aware and already have a pretty hefty list of fixes planned for a coming update.
Either way, I’m had a blast with it today when I was messing around in it. (Though I can’t wait for an English cockpit.)
