I didn’t have time to read all of it… how did you deduce that?
They listed a fix for AI not being able to “see” when using a dedicated server that doesn’t render the 3D environment. For a while now, only units with sensors could really see. So you could fly over unguided AAA and they’d leave you alone almost 100% of the time. Optical SAMs (IR and SACLOS) are affected too (SA-8, SA-13, SA-19 etc) - not that they never engage, just way less than they should because they don’t see you.
They’ve also reinstated dispersion under fire.
So a column of BMP2’s is now a lethal AAA battery.
We’ve been used to being able to fly low, but now with those fixes - we’ll have to get used to being careful again which will likely bring its share of casualties. Especially if the A-10s gun is a favorite. I think anyone who has flown it has lost a wing to a BMP. I can almost guarantee they’ve lost an engine.
It took a while for me to learn how dangerous those are back in the day.
But since I learned about the real world procedure yo kill them not a single one has hit me.
What’s the real world procedure?
I assume it involves a minimum AGL altitude but still keen to hear details
Edit the right .lua file to take away their laser sniper aim.
I am a tad hazy with the details but a real life A-10 pilot said or wrote somewhere, and it sounded similar to this:
Set your minimum altitude (radar altimeter) to 6000ft AGL.
Fly 14,000ft or so.
Dive toward the target, 30°
Start shooting at 8000ft, start to pull off at 6000ft (warning sound will remind you)
It will feel like you are extremely far away. You will not hit as great and you will not make that many kills with the gun. But it is a lot safer.
Of course the real one was a tad more complex, and in the real world you would alternate attack directions and such stuff. But that was around what I remember. Sorry, it has been a long time.
