Just a little update…
These latest Newsletters have been Amazing!! Chalk full of info and Exciting News!!
We really need ability to select maps installation directory. My ssd cant have all of those maps on one ssd…
I have to say if we see Improved AI, more detailed ATC and properly modelled weather that will big a BIG step forward!
Excited about the Syria map too…“What?” I hear you cry… a map that makes actual sense in terms of plane sets and scenarios (its enough to make me forget about the Marianas map debacle)
I’m sure we won’t see the Dynamic Campaign in 2020 but thats another thing to look forward to (even if it is more “Tactical” in focus than the much beloved BMS Dynamic Campaigns)
Great update…though a shame we can’t have a better damage model for Ground Units if we’re having improved Aircraft damage modelling…
All in all good work DCS if some (most) of this actually comes to fruition!
This has me a bit worried.
By itself - all good, for sure. However, does that mean two Kuz’s in the mission editor? Will the old model get patch for spawn issues?
I guess we’ll need two put both in MP incase non-owners can’t catch a wire on the new model as part of the license restrictions. Questions!
Gotta bump this as well. I like the idea of the carrier modules, but it’s an absolute terror from a multiplayer mission creation standpoint. I’ve settled on the fact that I’ll have to use the existing carrier for most missions because for a public facing server, having 2 carriers of the same class is a rough proposition.
I can’t see 2x kuznetzov in the same game, they may have to rename the old one or get rid of it altogether. It will be interesting to see how they do it
Huh, I hope this will still get reconsidered. That is small for naval operations! Backfires will launch their anti-ship missiles across a third of this map. There is 2000 km of open ocean in any direction around the Marianas, us it!
Impressive amount of features for a home PC Simulator!
I’m utterly, absolutely, impressed! 0.0
Really… Lighting, ATC, Weather!
WOW!
That said… Nope, quite sure I’m not going to buy the Channel map. ![]()
All the others?
Eh… I guess so!
The Channel map is intriguing, with such an overlap to the Normandy map. Wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing rumors of a P-51 v2 with the B model included; just a few more like that and we’ve essentially got the DCS version of Il-2 Normandy.
The rest of the newsletter is absolutely awesome. It may take a few years for everything to come to fruition, but man it’s going to be great when everything is in place. Considering flight sims are supposed to be a niche in a niche, with the DCS updates, Il-2, and FS2020, it really seems like we’re entering a golden age.
I’m waffling a bit on the supercarrier module. Not liking the answers I’m seeing to questions about that, in particular how the Kuznetsov and Arleigh Burke are being handled. It’s still early so I’d imagine some details are still being ironed out, but I’m starting to feel the baseline assets will remain the standard in my missions.
The Channel map… That’s dependent on the appropriate assets. So far, too much seems barebones for me to justify getting it.
P-51B would be Sweet!!! ![]()
Oh I’m getting it all.
Really looking forward to better lighting and weather.
…would love to see a Typhoon mentioned in one of those updates…

What are Deltas that we download every update? I am currently d/l 1169.5 Mb of Deltas ![]()
I have been wondering the same since they introduced that into their updater. I assume that is the part of the update where delta compression can be applied but I’m really unsure.
Delta is often used to denote change, as in delta-V for the amount of velocity change a rocket can put out.
So I’d say delta’s in this context mean the bits that are changed. Now why those don’t just suffice, I have no idea. Because after that entire gig of deltas the thing decided to suck down almost 5 gigs of other files.
It could be that they have delta compression applied only to certain types of files, and exempted other types. Or there’s actually 5 gigs of new files (which i doubt).
