DCS 2.5 Update Thread (2020)

Brief written summary of the above GR interview.

There were multiple versions of the same question in the interview asking about large aircraft. These include large scale transports like the C-17 , Tu-95 , C-130 or even the AC-130 gunship. It doesn’t sound like Eagle Dynamics has any plans for that type of aircraft right now.

I see my constant whining hasn’t changed their minds.

And he’s the only one like that you’ll ever meet. Perverted freak. But our perverted freak. Too weird to live, too rare to die. Never change Ace.

He posted some of his training sessions, and honestly, I think it was quite alright. Very knowledgeable and a great instructor (I guess he is a flight instructor in real life as well). Besides nothing wrong in giving something back to patreons and sometimes (as was the case) to the community. Those things never really bothers me. And their egos, well, content creators kind of need it sometimes…

I think that guy lied about his background saying he was a pilot IRL or something. Maybe I’m confusing YouTube personalities? Turns out you can’t trust people online. Who would’ve thought?

Yeah, that was Spudknocker. Got called out by Mover.

Drama, drama, drama; not all of which is undeserved.

That’s when I stopped following them. During that controversy I also saw some of Cap’s political stuff which left a bad taste in my mouth. They used to have some amusing mission videos but my life is better without seeing their stuff in my YT recommendations (and their tutorials were usually overlong and with plenty of bad info).

Wow, suddenly I’m glad I only tune in from time to time… Never enough drama for youtube, the pinnacle of reality television…

Not usually much of a problem for me; I have to focus on a video to understand it as they seldom have subtitles so my enthusiasm for watching is considerably lower to start with. Most of what I know comes from observing the community explosion postmortem.

Nope, nothing wrong with the idea.

Hadn’t heard about that one. Just a little quip Mover made once referencing him that made me wonder though.

There are a few YT’rs that have this issue: 30 minutes to tell me what should take 5. Reminds me of a lot of conferences I used to attend in my working days (cram 1 day into 3). I do like a lot of the Cinematic ones - it’s art!

I’ve seen more RL pilots lately. See it as a good thing. I’ve noticed how they [RL pilots] often use the sim differently, from Mover not liking TrackIR at first (understandable til he got VR); just having ā€˜fun’ with it (shudder); to an Airbus driver (don’t recall his online handle) who, wait for it…likes to fly with external views. Oh no, Mr. Bill, not the Third Party View!

Wonder how many people that drives crazy.

Dude, it’s even worse right now on Zoom with working remotely.

That’s what happens when people don’t have a script and just wing it. They can spend 40% of the time on 5% of the topic and 10% of the time on 80%. You’d think they would at least have a bullet point list of topics and give each due time.

However, considering few if any of these are able to make a living off it, and instead do it in their free time, time spent planning the videos is time taken away from making it.
So having ads on them I think is fine, but charging for them seems like a big ask.

As for politics, I’ve never understood why people care. So this person has different ideas about gov’t than you do…so what? Why do you care? If they’re not actually IN gov’t, making decisions that affect you, then it’s just an opinion. As those cost nothing to make, are in infinite supply, can be stored at infinite density, and are in demand by no one they are by definition worthless. Fair Market Value of an inexpert opinion is the same as a handful of air.

He doesn’t follow UK flying instructor technique, and UK invented the art - Gosport No1 Flying School RFC.
