Hush!…the others aren’t cleared for that!
Speaking of ego-seeking missiles…Not the correct forum ad far be it for me to derail a thread (ouch, that actually hurt when I wrote that)…
I have a small problem with my AI wingmen in the MiG-19 and MiG-21 calling out bogeies at 50 km.
Max range of the MiG-19 radar is 12 km; Max range of the MiG-21 radar is 30 km. So…??
Just as the AI has a UFO FM, they also have UFO sensors.
You see comrade, in Soviet Russia WVR begins at the horizon.
When I was a young ENS, working in the JFK’s CVIC, the cyclic ops event weather brief would come on just before the intel brief…every weather brief they reported an “Elevated Duck Height”…??
…we were all, "What’s an elected duck? Is that when it is flying? Why don’t they just say “flying or airborne duck height”…and shouldn’t it be “airborne duck altitude”?…and such…
…evidently it is an atmospheric phenomenon called “elevated duct height” where you can get increased radar range beyond the curvature of the earth…has to do with humidity and temperature and whatnot, which is why the weather guys (METOC) brief it…who knew…
…plus the whole “curvature of the earth” came as a bit of a suppose to some of us, that I can tell you!
Anyway, I guess this is what the MiG AI wingmen are experiencing.
How dare you assume the shape of the Earth!!!
Same for me with the MiG-29 (unless I suck with operating the radar big time; which I probably do )
You might but that’s probably not it. Plus the MiG-29 does have a longer range.
Dare I opine that the DCS wingman AI is not the most uniform and consistent of DCS World’s features. On one hand, 50 km bogey contacts; on the other late calls on Bingo = flame outs. (shrug) your get used to it…I name my AI wingman C. T. Dummy.
POWERRRRRR!!!
CLARKSON!!!
"Bravo Company under fire!!"
“Mark is on the deck!”
"Ones got tally"
“Rifle!”
"Sting 1-1 Good effect on target!"
